Lawmakers Propose a Bill That Will Affect Your Second Amendment Rights

BY JAMES LEDBETTER

For years, Democrats have advocated for “disarming America.” Though the process has been slow, they are slowly succeeding. The latest attempt: to limit gun purchases across America.

The bill, a proposal that would limit how often California residents can exercise their Second Amendment rights to buy a long gun has been introduced in the California state legislature.

Interestingly, California Senate Bill 61, first proposed by Democratic state Sen. Anthony Portantino, bans purchasers from acquiring more than one gun within a 30-day period, CNBC reported. California already slaps that restriction on handgun purchases.

Additionally, it is worthy to note that a similar measure was vetoed last year by outgoing Gov. Jerry Brown, stating that the bill was “unconstitutional.”

In other words, if passed, Americans can only buy one long gun at a time. Then they will be restricted from buying another gun for 30 days.

The bill also states that if someone under 18 steals your firearm, and uses it, and causing death or injury, you may be charged with a felony or high misdemeanor.

The bill says:

IF YOU KEEP A LOADED FIREARM WITHIN ANY PREMISES UNDER YOUR CUSTODY OR CONTROL, AND A PERSON UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE OBTAINS IT AND USES IT, RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH, OR CARRIES IT TO A PUBLIC PLACE, YOU MAY BE GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR OR A FELONY UNLESS YOU STORED THE FIREARM IN A LOCKED CONTAINER OR LOCKED THE FIREARM WITH A LOCKING DEVICE, TO KEEP IT FROM TEMPORARILY FUNCTIONING.

Gun rights advocates are opposed to the bill. They argue that the second amendment does not limit Americans in this way. Democrats are testing the waters to see what they can get away with, many experts feel.

“California already has extensive waiting periods before a law-abiding citizen can exercise a fundamental constitutional right,” said Lawrence Keane, senior vice president for government and public affairs for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, according to CNBC.

The more the Dems get away with, the more they are going to take. As you may recall, Dems passed a bill that banned bump stocks last year.

The House passed one of the legislative session’s biggest gun control bills Last year — a measure banning “bump stocks,” the devices that allowed a shooter to fire faster and kill nearly 60 people last year at a concert outside a Las Vegas hotel.

After five and a half hours of debate, and a series of back-and-forth arguments, lawmakers overwhelmingly approved the legislation 114-35 with one member absent. Shockingly, thirty-eight Republicans joined with all but two Democrats in supporting the measure.

The Democrats are “testing the waters” to see what they can get away with. The end game is to disarm the American people. They have made this clear from day one. This bill, if passed through Congress, will have to be approved by the Senate and ultimately, by President Trump.

It will be interesting to see how far this goes, and who votes to pass the bill. Voters are watching…

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our main websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
