Sanctuary Cities….The Not So Quiet Invasion Against American Security and Tax Dollars

By Susan Price, TLB Contributing Writer

To date…Over 300 “Sanctuary Cities” are aiding and abetting an estimated 17,000 Criminal Illegals from being Deported. Of those, 11,800 have prior criminal records.

The States and Municipalities have until Friday, December 8th, 2017 to respond to DOJ about Section 1373 Sanctuary violations or lose their Byrne JAG Public Safety Grants. One of the most controversial issues of our times involves “Illegal Immigration and the creation of Sanctuary cities to protect these illegal aliens that have flooded into communities throughout the United States of America. Rising concerns of safety and economical depression as illegal aliens bleed the various systems off the backs of law abiding tax payers with the help of criminal cooperation from those liberal Governors and Mayors of various states such as Governor Jerry Brown of California, Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, New York City Mayor, Bill de Blasio and others who work against the American people in contradiction of our Rule of Law and Constitution, jeopardizing our way of life for that of Non Americans.

Where is the MEDIA? Why is there not more exposure on this very important issue?

Over the past decade, there has been an increase of crime and untimely deaths by the hands of illegal aliens in America….Laws once written to protect our land and people are now being rewritten and redefined to fit the narrative and lifestyles of those encumbering our rights and lineage. Many legal immigrant families continue to speak out at community meetings across America town halls on this troubling and tragic issue that is spreading like a cancer throughout our country.

President Trump has put these lawless statesmen on notice, as Friday December 8th is the line in the sand regarding Sanctuary Violations in the U.S. and the loss of Government funding.

“Sanctuary Cities are not as pure and consecrated as they are defined, many have become places of refuge and protection from the law itself.”

In 1996, the 104th U.S. Congress passed Pub. L. 104-208, also known as the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA ). The IIRIRA requires local governments to cooperate with Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency. Despite the IIRIRA, hundreds of urban, suburban, and rural communities have ignored the law and adopted so-called “sanctuary policies.”

Generally, sanctuary policies instruct local or state government employees not to notify the federal government of the presence of illegal aliens living in or passing through their communities, counties, or states. These policies may also blur the legal distinction between legal resident aliens and illegal aliens, so illegal aliens can have access to the same taxpayer funded programs and benefits available to legal permanent resident aliens.

Sanctuary policies exist in two forms, formal and informal (de facto).

A formal sanctuary policy is a written policy enacted a local government body in the form of a resolution, ordinance, or administrative action–general or special orders, or departmental policies. Formal sanctuary cities are the easiest to identify because these sanctuary policies are in writing and are subject to public records requests by citizens and the press.

There is Nothing Legal about Illegals~ Yet Liberal Politicians continue to push a Political Agenda against the American people and our Rule of Law, Why? What is their true purpose?

To date…Over 300 “Sanctuary Cities” are aiding and abetting an estimated 17,000 Criminal Illegals from being Deported. Of those, 11,800 have prior criminal records.

DOJ: Public Safety Grants at Risk for 29 “Sanctuary” Governments

How much money is at stake in the Byrne/JAG program? The Trump administration reportedly is seeking $380 million for the program in 2018.

The States and Municipalities have until Friday, December 8th, 2017 to respond to DOJ about Section 1373 Sanctuary violations or lose their Byrne JAG Public Safety Grants.

The new DOJ policy would deny federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants (approximately $275 million in 2016) to state and local governments unless they meet three conditions:

1. Prove compliance with federal law that bars cities or states from restricting communications between the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) about the immigration or citizenship status of a person in custody.

2. Allow DHS officials access into any detention facility to determine the immigration status of any aliens being held.

3. Give DHS 48 hours’ notice before a jail or prison releases a person when DHS has sent over a detention request, so the feds can arrange to take custody of the alien after he or she is released.

“From 9/11 Commission hearings:

COMMISSIONER JOHN LEHMAN: “Were you aware that it was the US government established policy not to question or oppose the sanctuary policies of New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, San Diego for political reasons, which policy in those cities prohibited the local police from cooperating at all with federal immigration authorities?”

CONDOLEEZA RICE: “I do not believe I was aware of that.”

The Department of Justice recently sent the attached letters to 29 jurisdictions that may have laws, policies or practices that violate 8 U.S.C. 1373, a federal statute that promotes information sharing related to immigration enforcement. Read the announcement on the DOJ website.

Rep. Todd Rokita, R-Ind., to introduce H.R.4526, “Stopping Lawless Actions of Politicians” (SLAP) Act.

“The bill would subject state and local elected officials to criminal penalties of up to a $1 million fine and/or five years in prison if convicted for refusing to comply with federal immigration enforcement efforts and sheltering illegal immigrant criminals from deportation.”

After the Jury’s verdict and ensuing outrage that found illegal alien Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, not guilty in the 2015 shooting death of Kate Steinle in San Francisco.
