Sometimes you just need a good fantasy to escape the reality of your life. My students keep asking me when I am going to venture into fantasy writing, and after this year, I think maybe soon. However, fantasy is not my comfort zone, but it is for AS Crowder.
Her real name is Anna, but she writes under AS Crowder, and the first thing that struck me about her was the pictures of superheroes lining her wall. While they haven’t played a huge role in her books yet, she says they do influence her characters occasionally.
Her book EVIN, is a YA urban fantasy that follows a young woman named Eva as she discovers her connection to the Forest of Evin, the center of magical energy that exists between worlds. Anna stated that she had a blast creating all the worlds, and the book definitely sounds intriguing. You’ll have to check it out after the interview. Anna’s Bio: A.S. Crowder has been writing stories ever since she first learned how to write. She’s got about a million stories left to tell; hopefully she’ll finish one or two of them. In school, she got in trouble for writing stories during class. Now, she gets in trouble for writing stories when she’s supposed to be doing Adult Things—like cleaning the house or going to the store. When she’s not writing, she teaches sociology at local colleges and universities. A.S. Crowder lives in the Deep South with her husband, her cats, and her dog. She probably watches too much T.V.
