Emotions are a part of our life. Everyday we can face a variety emotions, some days it may even feel like a rollercoaster ride. On today’s episode, we look at two emotions. These two are predominately viewed in a negative way; although, both are our bodies way to defend us. The emotions are anger and anxiety.

Many of us would prefer to have these emotions only at a time when it is truly necessary, but often people struggle with them daily. For those who face the daily battle and would like to overcome these the problems and symptoms we endure from them, this show has the guest for you!

My guest Reneau Peurifoy holds a master’s degree in counseling and is the author of several books including,  “Anxiety, Phobias, and Panic: Taking Charge and Conquering Fear”, “Overcoming Anxiety: From Short-Term Fixes to Long-Term Recovery”, and “Why Did God Give Us Emotions?”

As an expert in this area, Peurifoy’s work is embraced by many including many self-help groups and clinics addressing anxiety-related problems. He has been invited to speak at 11, yes 11, national conferences presented by “The Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA).”

Peurifoy’s first book, “Anxiety, Phobias and Panic”, has had 3 revisions and sold over 200,000 copies.

He has also had a wide range of experience speaking in front of groups, addressing a wide array of topics ranging from stress management to improving self-image to setting limits as a parent. He is a frequent media commentator, having appeared extensively on dozens of television and radio outlets. Peurifoy was in private practice for twenty years as a marriage and family therapist specializing in anxiety disorders and then retired in 2000 to teach at a local College in Sacramento, California.

In 2015, he retired from teaching and received a ministerial credential from the Church of God headquartered in Anderson, Indiana. He now is spending his time writing, speaking, and seeing people with anxiety-related problems as a pastoral counselor. He has also developed a YouTube channel that features videos on practical life skills.

Learning techniques and having resources available, such as Peurifoy’s books, allow us to tackle and overcome the problems that stem from either anger or anxiety (or both) and there are many things we do.

Let’s think for a moment about the physical and psychological demands either of these plays on our bodies. They cause mental fatigue, heart problems, stress, feeling duress, high blood pressure, a state of panic, fear, foggy or irrational thinking, and these are only a few.

Instead of practicing prevention, when symptoms arise, pharmaceuticals are doled out like candy and offering side effects that can end up being more severe. Our society is addicted to quick fixes, instead of natural solutions. While a medication can have an immediate effect, investing in learning life skills, unfortunately not taught in schools at a young age, should be learned.

On this episode we talk about some of the causes that bring about these emotions and strategies to deal with them in the moment. Take action today and become educated about these emotions so you can help yourself, someone you love, or someone you know.

Please watch this great discussion …
