This episode brings awareness to sexual trafficking and abuse in a way that hits home. Literally! Most of us have a specific vision that comes to mind when the topic trafficking comes up. Many have seen movies and imagine the abuse done to the victims of this horrific abuse and believe it is only happening overseas. This is a huge misconception; it is happening here in the United States. However, this episode is going to make the beautiful eyes you have become wide and may even fill up with tears of pain for those who are subject to the mental, emotional, and physical torture, such as my guest, Patricia A. McKnight.

Trafficking is more common than we have been led to believe and it is happening within the homes of many victims, never even having to leave the country, let alone their own front door.

Patricia published a true horror story, My Justice, surrounding 12yrs of sadistic torture and scarring neglect from her own parents. She shares specific details of her story with our audience- which just blew my mind. Patricia, by appearance is a beautiful woman who hides her internal scars well; however, her childhood was destroyed by her parents who would bring men and drugs into the home to promote their own agenda. This is episode is so candid it will leave some speechless and frozen- to others it will create a fire to get the message out. The show also elicits just how hidden this epidemic is. Her goal, like mine, is to bring awareness about this topic so as to prevent those who could become, as well as, help those who are victims

In her book, Patricia shares the issue of “trained” behavior that kept her moving from one abuser to the next throughout 20 years of near death domestic violence. She eventually broke free from the chains that bound her to victimization, where she could then claim a life of her own and provide a home where her children could feel safe.

“It is the training of accepting the abuses against us and the belief in the brainwashing of our abusers that keeps us trapped in this life of control. I now share my voice to help others understand they too can break free and claim their own happiness in life, feel safe, and finally feel true freedom.”

Patricia A, McKnight is an author, mentor, and advocate who is certified in Domestic Violence, Child Abuse/Child Sexual Abuse Support and Human Trafficking. She is also a trainer in Child Sexual Abuse, Child Trafficking and Family Trauma, as well as, a Specialist/Speaker, Owner of Butterfly Dreams Abuse Recovery & Talk Radio, a Midwest Regional Ambassador of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ADULT SURVIVORS OF CHILD ABUSE and involved with the Abbie Business Institute.

She is also the founder of the Family Crimes Act, also known as Trecia’s Law, which is built upon crimes occurring within the family unit; acts or imposed threats of severe bodily harm or risk of death to one or more persons during or to maintain control, when the actions of Child Sexual Assault, Molestation, Aggravated Sexual Assault, Child Sex Trafficking are committed against a person who cannot fight back, cannot run away, cannot refuse, and cannot reach out to others for help or protection. When actions within the home are used to silence a victim, committed with malice, and used for the purpose of controlling the victim or protecting the abuser/attacker, then it is the duty of our government, our justice system, and our family support providers to protect the individual right to be safe.

She is asking for your help in updating old laws to ensure there is investigation of every report of threat or act of harm against a child and that assets be taken from the offender to ensure the victim is provided with the services and assistance needed in recovery and rebuilding.

She is asking you to help change the Statute of Limitations and set forth ONE STANDARDIZED FEDERAL SYSTEM ACROSS THE COUNTRY to ensure prosecution and recovery by signing the petition to have this enacted. If you would like to review research, medical proof, studies, or other information to support and provide justification, please email her directly at: [email protected]

As of 08/19/2017, the most current update the Statute of Limitations SB189 and SB 1842 , Gov Rauner has signed SB189 updating statute of limitations sexual abuse/sexual assault of a minor. However, there is still have no information about SB1842 for involuntary servitude/sexual servitude of a minor (trafficking). Federal Prosecution for Grievous Injury and Sex Crimes against persons 15yrs or younger.
