THE POWER OF STORY

By TLBTV Show Host: Rick Amitin

Story is our internal conversation, our self-talk. And, it drives our lives. As we experience life, we write a story as to what each experience means regarding our value and sense of worth. We make decisions and develop coping mechanisms to deal with and survive the story we wrote. The truth is, any prolonged suffering is in the story we wrote and not the actual event.

Rewriting our story is about separating the facts of the life event from the story we wrote around the event. Choosing a different story line (one without the suffering) and taking new or different actions based on the new story. Allowing ourselves the opportunity to live liberated from negativity.

As a Message Strategist and Mindful Messenger Coach, Amanda Johnson helps aspiring speakers, authors, and coaches craft their message, expertise, and stories for maximum impact on their audience, their brand, and their bottom line. After years of engaging, clarifying, and helping others develop powerful messages (as a Student, Teacher, and Master Writing Coach), Amanda uncovered her own. The decision to share it launched her on a journey of personal and professional transformation that quickly made her limited life unrecognizable. In her bestselling book Upside-Down Mommy, Amanda shares The Butterfly Approach philosophy responsible for her successes as a parent, wife, messenger, and coach.

I attended a three-day writers workshop with Amanda and she became a part of the process that changed my life forever. As my Book Coach Amanda participated in some of the most intimate moments of my journey. Her gifts and abilities allowed her to see the power on the other side of my pain. She listened to me talk, visualized my mission, and experienced my passion. Amanda held the skeleton of my book in her hands and uniquely helped me bring flesh to the bones of my message.

This conversation is sure to encourage people to accept their imperfections and embrace the importance of understanding the process we are all in. I share an exercise I did with Amanda that became one of my defining moments. We all have a story and our stories matter. We make our deepest connections through our stories. There is no doubt – there is Power in Story!
