What do you call somebody who supports Israel?

A note from The Liberty Beacon Editors:

Once again, as has happened many times before, we reach outside the borders of America to find truth and opinion Not found or allowed in U.S. “down stream” Media or in the Political Discourse that occurs daily in the halls of Congress or it’s Chambers. And to answer a question that is always posed in comments when we run a story about this subject… No we are NOT anti-Israel… but we Are anti-Zionist. (TLB)

 What do you call somebody who supports Israel?

Being racist normally invites strong disapproval, a ban, perhaps criminal prosecution. So why is supporting a racist regime like Israel not only tolerated but actively encouraged in the West’s corridors of power and even rewarded with high office?

“If opposing Israel is anti-semitism then what do you call supporting a state that has been engaged in brutal ethnic cleansing for seven decades. What does that make you?” It’s a question posed by Miko Peled, an Israeli Jew and son of an Israeli general, former Israeli soldier and now a leading voice in the struggle for Palestinian freedom. You couldn’t find a more authentic insider.

What else has Peled been saying about Israel?

  • “The name of the game: erasing Palestine, getting rid of the people and de-Arabizing the country…”
  • As for talk about Israel giving up the West Bank for a Palestinian state: “If it wasn’t so sad it would be funny. It shows a complete misunderstanding of the objective of Zionism and the Zionist state…. By 1993 the Israelis had achieved their mission to make the conquest of the West Bank irreversible.”
  • Peled also describes the Israeli army, in which he served, as “one of the best trained and best equipped and best fed terrorist organisations in the world.”

So let’s repeat Peled’s question. What does supporting Israel make you when Israel has been busy ethnically cleansing the native Palestinians for seven decades? What should we call people who defend the indefensible?… who admire the despicable?… who applaud the expulsion at gunpoint of peaceable civilians and the confiscation of their homes and land?

Give them a name, one that will stick.

The claim by Conservative Friends of Israel that 80 percent of the party’s MPs and MEPs are members is alarming and reveals how lacking in integrity we are at the heart of government. It puts us almost on a par with US Congress which is almost totally controlled by the Israel lobby through AIPAC.

Being a Friend of Israel, of course, means embracing the whole rotten kit and caboodle, including the terror and racism on which the state of Israel was built. It means embracing the dispossession and oppression of innocent Palestinians. It means embracing the discriminatory laws against those who remain in their homeland. It means embracing the jackboot thuggery that abducts civilians — including children — and imprisons and tortures them without trial. It means embracing the theft and annexation of Palestinian land and water resources, the imposition of hundreds of military checkpoints, severe restrictions on the movement of people and goods, and maximum interference with Palestinian life at every level.

It means approving the bloodbaths inflicted by Israel on Gaza and feeling comfortable with blowing hundreds of children to smithereens, maiming thousands more, trashing vital infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, power plants and clean water supplies, and causing $6bn of devastation that will take 20 years to rebuild. And, by the way, where is the money coming from?

It means embracing the strangulation of the West Bank’s economy and the vicious ten-year blockade on Gaza. It means embracing the denial of Palestinians’ right to self-determination and return to their homes. It means embracing the religious war that humiliates Muslims and Christians and prevents them from visiting their holy places. It means endorsing a situation in which hard-pressed American and British taxpayers are having to subsidise Israel’s illegal occupation of the Holy Land.

And if, after all that, you are still Israel’s special friend, where is your self-respect?

It is ludicrous that a foreign military power which has no regard for international law and rejects weapons conventions and safeguards can exert such influence on foreign policy in the US and UK. Pandering to Israel has been immensely costly in blood and treasure and stupidly damaging to our reputation.

Everyone outside the Westminster/Washington bubble knows perfectly well that there can be no peace in the Holy Land without justice. In other words no peace until the occupation ends. Everyone knows that international law and countless UN resolutions still wait to be enforced. Everyone knows that Israel won’t comply unless sanctions are imposed. Everyone knows that the siege on Gaza won’t be lifted until warships are sent.

What’s more, everyone now knows that the US is not an honest broker, Israel wants to keep the pot boiling and justice won’t come from more sham ‘negotiations’. Nor will peace. Everyone knows who is the real cause of turmoil in the Middle East. And everyone knows that Her Majesty’s Government’s hand-wringing and empty words serve no purpose except to prolong the daily misery for Palestinians and buy time for Israel to complete its criminal scheme to make the occupation permanent.

Churchgoing British prime minister Theresa May praises Israel for being “a thriving democracy, a beacon of tolerance” when it is obviously neither. It’s an obnoxious ethnocracy. She says our two countries share “common values” when we obviously don’t — although her rotten party probably does.

Given the Israeli regime’s endless crimes against humanity and cruelty to the rightful inhabitants of the Holy Land her remarks are insulting to anyone who lives by Christian values. She even claims that Israel is a country where people of all religions “are free and equal in the eyes of the law” and “Israel guarantees the rights of people of all religions, races and sexualities, and it wants to enable everyone to flourish”. Her ignorance in these matters rivals Trump’s.

And May would do well to call off her efforts to ciminalise the successful BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) campaign. She warns that her government will “have no truck with those who subscribe to it”. But Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights bestows on everyone “the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers”. So she boobs even on that.

In an interview with Jonas Alexis, Miko Peled sounds upbeat about BDS. As long as Israel has a blank cheque from the US and the UK and is undefeatable militarily and diplomatically, BDS “is possibly the only positive change one can point to at this time.”

Many of us have urged beefing up BDS, extending its reach and orchestrating its efforts globally. There seems no other way to force the spineless international community to finally impose the sanctions they should have slapped on Israel decades ago.

It has got to the point where I wouldn’t mind seeing individuals among the political élites targeted by BDS if they deserve it. And many of them surely do.

  1. We very much appreciate your thoughtful comments. Please remember it is the author of the article presenting the views expressed and not The Liberty Beacon. We try and cover all narratives about a particular subject when they are written and presented in a respectful way, such as you have done.

  2. To whom it may concern,

    I am a non-american born again believer in Jesus (Matthew 6:24-34, Mark 8:34-38 / Luke 9:23-24, 14:27, 17:33 / John 3:3-5, 3:16, 12:24-25 / Galatians 5:19-26 / 1Corinthians 1:30-31, 1Peter4:17-18 etc) according to proper comprehension of this in first century born again Israelite mindset (Jude 1:1-3), the remnant there are in this world as Jesus the Christ made clear would happen. I’m also a seasoned long time bible historian among other hats, and like you folks, am “ANTI-synagogue of satan” but if it’s one thing that i despise so much, is when folks throw in this “PALESTINIAN” claim.. it shows such a depth of Biblical historical ignorance that is beyond able to stomach. I do not deny that most of this article is accurate about what these pseudo-israelites are doing to people in Gaza etc and the overall warfare they are waging with the endless slaughter of other tribes by the criminal state of Israeli-ville, i do not deny at all that most of these Israeli’s are so satanically brainwashed to believe they are right in their eyes when Jesus makes clear they are sons of satan to being what they are doing, these same such evil people who claim to be ‘true physical israelites’ (a genealogical impossibility as Jesus prophesied would happen) who have no problems with what their criminal state is doing to others of not their tribe. But the fact remains, if you continue to promote this ‘Palestinian” title.. you are actually duped, while thinking you are cleaning windows with Windex, you don’t realize you are using very dirty water. And to also claim that true born again believers (John 3:3-16) are supposed to be ‘friends’ with Islamists, is blasphemy against Jesus, basically calling Him a liar when Jesus made clear to NOT be friends with such folks who’s own Qur’an has 130+ verses calling for the slaying, flaying, decapitating, stabbing, chopping off fingers and hands etc of any who will not bow down to true Islam which i have studied for many years as a non-american historian and which my own extended family in Egypt has had their family members murdered by true Islamists. The word “PALAESTINA” is the modern word for “Philistine”, which comes from those who were from “Philistia” which is Southern Syria to be actually biblically accurate, and those calling themselves “Palestinian” today (which is actually “Philistine”) are nothing of the sort if we are going to be brutally honest about factual bible history here. You do not realize that though your intentions are well placed to expose these Israeli’s who claim to be ‘true israelites’ (which again is a genealogical impossibility), you folks claiming there are ‘Palestinians” today, is a historical great farce, it’s actually still spreading grave untruth when the Philistines don’t really exist today according to God/Jesus via proper reading of the Scriptures. No, these people calling themselves “Palestinian” are NOT “Philistines”, read your Holy Bibles much better, and unless you have a blood sample from the Philistines of Jesus’ time to compare with today’s pseudo Philistines (Palaestinians), then calling these people ‘Palaestinian” is just further telling grave untruth. I’m not denying that these folks who are being called “Palaestinians” today are not getting slaughtered by the criminal Israelite state, but, consider the below strongly and please have the common honour and decency to not delete my comment, for i am in no way for the modern day geo-political state of so called “Israel” as Jesus commands not to be, but the fact remains, either be historically technically accurate when making these articles on these topics, or else you are helping to promote pure historical invention while deceiving yourself you are actually ‘helping the cause’ synagogue of satan Israeli-ville. Interestingly enough, Ben Gurion didn’t want to be called “Israelites” when he was part of the Balfour Declaration, he insisted on being called “Israeli” which is not “Israelite”, wonder why that is so huh? Maybe because he knew, they are impersonating the Biblical House of Judah, who Jesus prophesied their house would be left desolate/no more/dissolved which occurred between 70 A.D. to 130s A.D… the remaining remnant of Judahites (not “Jews”) mixed with gentile stock according to even their own 2nd century and on writings and Jesus’ prophecy of course, came to pass that they would be no more a bloodline, it was the end of the road for them;

    (Jesus preaching)
    Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
    Mat 23:38 Behold, YOUR HOUSE IS LEFT UNTO YOU DESOLATE..
    Mat 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. [This actually happened after Jesus rose, there was a transition period of approximately 20 years or so where there were a certain amount of Judahites (not “Jews”, since the word “Jew” is a trick word by the synagogue of satan) that finally accepted Jesus as Lord (God Incarnate) and became born again.]

    Luke13:35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

    So Jesus prophesied that House of Judah/Iudah bloodlines would be dissolved which happened, hence why to claim to be a real ‘physical israelite’ today.. is a genealogical impossibility, so what is going on is that we are dealing with the number one imposters who are claiming to be ‘true physical israelites’ and thus they are the leaders of the criminal state of Israeli-ville. So the below article, we must face the facts of the own admissions of Islamists and what they reveal, and again this is not being posted to support the criminal state of Israeli-ville, but to eat the meat, spit out the bones, to be honest and balanced about what top Islamist leaders admit themselves that doesn’t make it across the pond to the west.

    NO modern so called “Palestinian” is “Philistine”;

    donboys . cstnews.com/muslim-leaders-admit-palestinians-dont-exist ——- The “Palestinian people” don’t exist as an historical group but they do exist as a political ploy used by the PLO and other Muslim extremists for their own selfish purposes. These “Palestinian” people are refugees from the Middle East whom the Muslim nations will not accept as citizens but will use as grunt workers in their fields and orchards. — The refugees are welcome as workers but not as citizens. By leaving the refugee camps, they better themselves as migrate workers but without any hope of citizenship from their “brother” Muslims. However, they have been and are being used as pawns to further the political agenda of their fellow Muslims. The workers are too dumb or fanatical to realize that fact. — Any honest person will recognize that there is no mention of the name “Palestina” in history before the Romans gave that new hated name to the province of Judea. This fact was admitted by Professor Philip Hitti, an Arab historian who declared, *“There is no such thing as Palestine in history, absolutely not.”* —– This fact is further confirmed by the Saudi Arabia Representative at the United Nations. *“It is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but Southern Syria.”* —— Fathi Hammad, minister of the interior and national security for Hamas, a recognized terror group, confirmed that *“half of the Palestinians are Egyptians and the other half are Saudis.”* —- King Hussein of Jordan was the only Arab leader that showed any sympathy toward what is called the Palestinian Arabs. In 1960 he stated: *“Since 1948 Arab leaders have approached the Palestine problem in an irresponsible manner….They have used the Palestine people for selfish political purposes. This is ridiculous and, I could say, even criminal.”* The King was correct. — I started going to Jordan and the Middle East just after the 1967 Six-Day War (in which Israel sent the nine Muslim nations arrayed against them running for cover) and have been there 14 times. That doesn’t make me a Middle East expert but I became convinced that King Hussein, who died in 1999, was the most reasonable and kind Muslim leader in the Muslim world. He shocked the world when he recognized Israel as a nation in 1994 much to the chagrin of other Muslim leaders. Unknown to the world, Hussein wanted peace with Israel and secretly negotiated with Israel’s leaders and U.S. officials. The private talks took place in London at the home of Hussein’s Jewish physician. In 1970, Hussein kicked the PLO (Arafat) out of Jordan! It must be remembered that Arafat, while leader of the PLO, was an Egyptian, *not a “Palestinian”; but then, no one is a “Palestinian.”* —— I corresponded with Hussein in the late 70’s while I was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives. I also was a newscaster and commentator at a fledging Indianapolis television station. Since I went to the Middle East about every year I contacted the king about doing a television interview, and much to my surprise, he readily agreed. We set the date to coincide with my itinerary and I prepared for a “scoop.” But alas, it was not to be. I was too busy to see the king! No, my trip was rescheduled because of terrorist activities and the king was out of the country when I finally was there. —– Syrian dictator Hafez Assad (father of the present dictator) told PLO leader Yasser Arafat, *“You do not represent Palestine as much as we do. Never forget this one point: There is no such thing as a Palestinian people, there is no Palestinian entity, there is only Syria.”* —- Don’t you think the media should finally get the point: Palestinian people do not exist except as a political ploy. Zuhair Muhsin, military commander of the PLO and member of the PLO Executive Council, clearly said *“There are no differences between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. We are all part of one nation. It is only for political reasons that we carefully underline our Palestinian identity… yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity serves only tactical purposes. The founding of a Palestinian state is a new tool in the continuing battle against Israel.”* —- I wonder if the media are listening. Maybe they can’t understand plain English.
