The attached video clearly displays the mindset of so many of our “LAW ENFORCEMENT” Officers today (what ever happened to the term “Peace Officer”?). If you have any doubts as to the massive erosion of the power of We The People in the eyes of those who we pay to protect and serve us … read on.
This is not a new video nor is it an isolated incident. The reason I am posting this commentary and video is not so much due to this particular scenario (video), although it does represent a blatant disrespect of guaranteed rights, the reason I am posting this is because of the phrase spoken by the police Sargent first on the scene.
“You Must Be Doing Something Wrong if You Need to Invoke Your Rights”
So it would seem we now live in a country where invoking your constitutional rights is a sign of deception or guilt … This is not a guess but by the very fact he clearly states this, a mindset ingrained into our public servants by massive federal influence via such mechanisms as the 1033 program.
This mindset is validated and reinforced via the many sheep who acquiesce to, or attempt to justify, the NSA’s massive public spying programs, or the constant erosion of their rights via these public servants by saying …
“Well if I am doing nothing wrong, I have nothing to fear”
REALLY? And who decides what is right and what is wrong? Obviously NOT you or I, and for that matter the Constitution either! By this very comment you are acquiescing your rights to any and all who would hold power over you, conforming to any unconstitutional statute or law that does not immediately influence your comfort zone. A huge problem in America today is the surrendering of our authority as the true governors of this Republic to those who would govern us in illegal and unconstitutional fashions.
If these are now the standards we must conform to then I, being a patriotic individual who puts great faith in said constitution, will be suspect every remaining day of my life!
When it becomes the practiced rule that exercising our constitutional rights is no longer a guarantee but a privilege granted by a rogue government, and not supported by the people, or questioned and dismissed by a law enforcement officer on any given scene, and the very practice of these rights by invocation brings suspicion and repercussion, then tyranny in America is no longer merely a possibility … it has been institutionalized !!!
WELCOME TO THE USSA …
Cop on Tape: “You Must Be Doing Something Wrong if You Need to Invoke Your Rights”
Activist Post Author Melissa Melton says:
It has been upheld time and time and time and TIME again that the First Amendment protects one’s right to film police officers in public. Period.
That is it. End of story.
It is also not illegal to film locations from public property, even those that have been designated as “secure.” A sign is not a law and does not negate the Constitution. It just isn’t and it just doesn’t, despite an apparent effort to make it seem that way.
Now listen to what this cop says to these guys who recently decided to film prisoners being transported in and out of the Duval County, Florida courthouse’s sally port without identifying themselves:
