ER Editor: Full disclosure: when we saw Robinson go off to Israel recently, we just couldn’t bear to subject ourselves to the videos that would result, the lessons, the discovery, the admiration (faux or not) for Israel, etc. Kudos to Glenn Greenwald for putting together a package of extracts and commentary. It’s only 20 minutes long but difficult to make notes for.
Our initial suspicion, however, was ‘who’s scripting this and to what end?’
We urge viewers to listen to Greenwald carefully. We wonder if Israel, or certain figures therein, are not being set up to be seen in a bossy, scolding, authoritarian light where Robinson dutifully plays his role of the child-student being educated and corrected. As Greenwald generally observes, who gave Israel the right to dictate to the rest of us, yet they do?
‘Propaganda really works, and the Israelis are expert propagandists’
This comment is made by Greenwald after Robinson gets corrected by his interviewee not to pick up a key book at a certain moment, where the six million figure gets endlessly repeated. This moment is captured in our featured image. Is it an invitation to go looking into that classic figure? Hmmm.
Greenwald connects this scene to the required Israeli re-education of American Congressmen and women.
