Trump cuts ties with Netayahu, may recognize Palestine in Gulf-US Summit

ER Editor: We believe this is all a pretext (‘Netanyahu is manipulative’) but at least it begins to put to rest the nonsense about Trump being a Zionist. Existentially impossible. And Trump may recognize Palestine unilaterally, say the media …

Let’s recall Mike Walz recently getting the boot because he took a Zionist line toward Iran —

Donald Trump fired national security adviser Mike Waltz for ‘plotting with Israel’s leader to bomb Iran’

Hopefully we can recognize the irony and bad acting in this scene (the real Netanyahu is long gone. This version’s hair is a strange color – see an embedded photo below for a clearer view) —

Refresh the popcorn.

US President Donald Trump has decided to cut off direct contact with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a report said Thursday.

Yanir Cozin, a correspondent for Israeli Army Radio, said in a post on his X account that Trump made the decision after close associates told Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer that the president believes that Netanyahu is manipulating him.

An Israeli official added that Dermer’s tone during recent discussions with senior Republican figures about what Trump should do was seen as arrogant and unhelpful.

The official said that people around Trump told him that “Netanyahu was manipulating him.”

“There is nothing Trump hates more than being portrayed as a fool or someone being played. That’s why he decided to cut contact with Netanyahu,” the official added.

Cozin pointed to the Israeli government’s failure to present a concrete plan and timeline regarding Iran and Yemen’s Houthis as a source of the worsening US-Israel relationship.

The Army Radio correspondent also highlighted that the Netanyahu government has failed to offer a concrete proposal on Gaza.

Trump cuts off communication with Netanyahu, Israel media says

MIDDLE EAST MONITOR

May 9, 2025 at 3:09 pm

US President Donald Trump has decided to end communication with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Israeli media reports published yesterday, due to concerns that Netanyahu has been manipulating him.

Yanir Cozin, a correspondent for Israeli Army Radio, said on X that Trump made the decision due to suspicions that Netanyahu was attempting to manipulate him.

No US or Israeli official has issued any formal comment regarding Cozin’s statements. However, his remarks echoed a report published the same day by Israel Hayom, a newspaper affiliated with the Israeli right, which said there has been a significant breakdown in personal relations and growing mutual disappointment between Trump and Netanyahu.

Cozin further noted that Trump intends to move forward on Middle East issues without waiting for Netanyahu, highlighting a widening gap in the leaders’ positions on regional matters.

He also referred to a meeting that took place in April between Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister, Ron Dermer, and senior Republican lawmakers in Washington. During that meeting, Dermer reportedly told them what Trump “ought to do,” which angered the US president.

According to Cozin, Dermer’s actions prompted Trump’s inner circle to turn him against Netanyahu.

Earlier on Thursday, Israel Hayom quoted sources close to Trump as saying he is “disappointed” with Netanyahu and plans to proceed with “steps” in the Middle East “without waiting for him.”

The sources added that Trump is particularly interested in decisions that would advance US interests, especially concerning Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.

According to Israel Hayom, some of the planned steps are believed to relate to the long-anticipated US-brokered normalisation between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

The report noted that “Trump believes Netanyahu is stalling on making the necessary decisions. For this reason, the US President is unwilling to wait for Israel to act as expected, and has decided to move forward without him.”

Will the United States recognize Palestine under Donald Trump?

Saudi Arabia will host a Gulf-US summit in mid-May during Trump’s Mideast visit. Speculation swirls over a major announcement on a Palestinian state, and peaceful US-Saudi nuclear cooperation

In addition to what Trump intends to announce, the summit’s agenda and the deals and agreements expected to take place have become the talk of the town, ranging from security and military deals to technology deals and artificial intelligence deals.

All Gulf leaders are scheduled to participate in the Gulf-US summit, with the exception of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, who has not participated in public events or meetings for a long time due to his health conditions.

Will Donald Trump recognize a Palestinian state?

A Gulf diplomatic source, who declined to be named or disclose his position, told The Media Line, “President Donald Trump will issue a declaration regarding the State of Palestine and American recognition of it, and that there will be the establishment of a Palestinian state without the presence of Hamas.”

The source also added, “If an announcement of American recognition of the State of Palestine is made, it will be the most important declaration that will change the balance of power in the Middle East, and more countries will join the Abraham Accords.”

The source confirmed that economic agreements will certainly be present, but many of them have already been announced, and we may witness the Gulf states being exempted from tariffs.

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee denied the statements made by this source on X/Twitter Saturday afternoon, saying that Israel has no better friend than the US. (ER: Zionist Huckabee would. Is he a 2.0 by now?)
