4. I agree. I worry about that too. Those we could of depended on in the Military are gone IMHO. Some of the states are passing legislation authorizing state militias controlled by the Governors since he has placed National Guard Units under Federal control. Texas and Wyoming have laws in place authorizing the Governors to shut down state borders in case of an emergency. Think some of the others are also considering similar laws. Google for more info.

6. I do not understand why the Sheriff does not empanel a grand jury and just issue subpoenas for the SS 5 and other documents. The agreements in place REQUIRE compliance. Is there not ONE Judge available who has the stones to issue and sign-off the subpoena? Why not go for a direct Criminal Indictment? Empanel a Grand Jury now.

7. I do pray for Congress every day and now find myself praying fervently that we will not lose our freedom of religion due to the HHS mandate. I am not uneducated or ill-guided nor do I hate anyone. 11. I agree that if the occasion came up where the slate was denied that would be the most likely response. I suspect if the law were kept simple (if that is possible ) and specific, no exceptions or exclusions, the penalty would be so high that the temptation to break it would be very small. Constitutional eligibility is really not that complicated, it specifies an age and citizenship defined as birth to American citizens. Place of birth is not an issue. The problem for me with the whole “Birther issue” concerning Obama is that he seems to have defined himself for most of his life as a Kenyan, possibly Muslim because of his step father. Claiming his American citizenship seems to have been a matter of political convenience and not a reflection of his values or beliefs. IMHO

12. Smokingreb – I must have missed that aspect of your post. I’m glad you called it to my attention because it makes a big difference to me. You are right, that IS an important issue, and I can go with the idea of denying them a slate at the next election. But then, will the party denied the slate easily claim that the voters are being denied their right to vote for the candidate of their choice? I realize nothing can be predicted or insured, but I can’t help seeing that response as a possibility.

14. I would disagree with your comment concerning Democrats. A Google search for politicians in prison or who have been forced out of office because of wrong doing will show members of both parties. Having said that……….
    There have been Democrats in office that should of stepped down and refused, Byrd as a KKK member is of course the most glaring example. Google death threats to the Clinton’s during the 2008 primaries when they discovered Obama was not a citizen. Google the attempt to poison George and Laura Bush, revealed in her book. I doubt any Republican would of been responsible for that. Do a Google search for the Democratic Party and suspicious deaths. Do the same for Republicans. You will be shocked.
    Some Democrats have over the past 60 to 80 years developed an entitlement mentality concerning the control of Washington, Washington politics and power. They have been completely supported by the main stream media, and if there were not cable alternatives like Fox or Beck for daily news along with the internet, US News and World Report and the Conservative magazines, they would still be in control.

Before Obama I believe most of us assumed that while there are major disagreements as to the size, scope and reach of government along with disagreements over foreign policy both parties could be relied on to have enough individuals with the ethics and character to ensure basic Constitutional eligibility. This situation shows we were very naive.
    That is why I suggested that the penalty should be ineligibility to have a slate of candidates in the next election. The issue is that important. IMHO

17. I have to wonder where is the journalist that would most certainly receive a Pulitzer for breaking this wide open? Are they afraid that they will come to a violent end like the Seal Team 6 and some of the FBI agents with too much information? It is a legitimate fear.

18. RE: taking potshots at our candidates, we need to quit folding under a situation like this. On one hand, we need to make sure we’re not letting something “slip by” but this sniping at the character of our candidates, resulting in a situation that makes them look dishonest is wrong. We need to stand behind them when there is no basis for the attack. The Democrats do that . . . rarely do they ever have a candidate or an elected official step down.

    I like this idea and agree that someone needs to be responsible for insuring the candidates meet Constitutional eligibility criteria, but if it’s left to the party itself, even at the state level, wouldn’t that likely leave us in much the same situation? The Democratic party had to have known the status of Obama’s eligibility, or lack of it. But what good did it do? Granted, there was apparently no rule or requirement for verification, but they should have taken moral responsibility for their candidate’s worthiness. So I’m wondering, if having an actual requirement in place to (hopefully) insure the criteria for running is met, is a strong enough incentive for both parties to be honest about their candidates, state by state?

20. The Democratic Party was and is responsible for putting this man on the ballots IMHO Don’t they have a responsibility to be sure their primary candidates are vetted? Hillary and Bill received threats is my understanding when they discovered the truth during the primaries.

    Couldn’t of happened without the complicit failure of the main stream media to serve the people rather than their political agenda. IMHO

    Assuming we will be able to get the man out in 2016, unless the Senate falls to the Republicans in 2014 and impeachment can begin, it may be an order of business in Congress to charge all political parties with a legal responsibility to make sure that all candidates running in their primaries at the state and federal level for every single election meet the Constitutional criteria for eligibility. Failure at the state level would disqualify them from running candidates in the next state election, failure at the national level would disqualify them from running candidates in the next national election. Dems have already taken potshots at Cruz over the issue and I expect they will have a field day making the usual wild accusations, but it would be a beginning. IMHO

24. I seriously doubt that that the McCain campaign chose Sarah Palin as a running mate as a publicity stunt. The GOP had too much to lose on in gambling on the outcome of the election. I also disagree, respectfully on the belief that Obama delivers a good speech. He speaks in choppy, disjointed sentences and can’t even talk to a group of school kids without his teleprompter. His statements, answers to issues change with the wind depending on how he needs to defend himself and his programs from. Needing notes is one thing but having to rely on them in all circumstances is a real negative for a candidate or elected official. Also, the fact that his own platform (the public platform, not the one he is trying to hide) isn’t solid is very telling about his direction for the country and his honesty with the public.

25. I think this country has been courteous and trusting of candidates to be honest when filing to run. The fact that this confidence has not been violated is a serious problem to us and our kids . . . just as much as the debt we’re concerned about.

26. First, I disagree that fraud and politicians are interchangeable, although when we look around, we do see alot of it and we’re finding people who we never would have thought would be dishonest. But the issue of people accepting Obama and overlooking his obvious flaws is a serious issue. The end can’t justify the means, especially in a society where freedom is held as nearly sacred. As for the birth issue, shame on us. The states should have required proof of birth before allowing him on the ballot. But that doesn’t change his responsibility for illegally becoming president. Also, his background has serious implications but people who haven’t lived through the Anti-Communism years and the Turbulent Sixties may well not understand how important these issues are. At the very root of this problem though is his honesty and if he broke the law to become president, he should and removal from office is a possibility, he should be removed from office and any income gained from the job should be repaid to the government. Those are my thoughts. I don’t know what the law would allow, if anything.

29. How he got there was fairly simple. The nation had been fed up with the expense of the Bush wars, Obama promised (among other lies) to close Guantanamo, end the wars, and so on. Things that appealed to moderates and independents, which is the block that either party has to get to win. He also spoke to end the racial tensions and bring about positive change. The other alternatives were not good either. Did we REALLY want to see Hillary in the White House? My biggest objection to her election was that had she been elected, the Executive branch would have been under the control of two families since 1980! Bush Sr in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, Bill Clinton, then Bush Jr.! Too close to monarchy for my taste! Then in 2008 the McCain campaign pulls more publicity stunt than a realpolitik move with the selection of Sarah Palin. And, to give credit where it is due, Obama does deliver a good speech, so I did vote for him in 2008, mainly because none of the other choices were worth it. Fast forward to 2012 and the Republicans run a candidate who LOST in the primaries to McCain in 2008! Question becomes “deal with devil we know, or the other guy.” By now having realized what a corporate shill Obama is, I took Shakespeare’s advice, “A plague on Both their houses” and voted Libertarian.Just a shame too many are still in Party thralldom and are unable to think for themselves that the country is being sold down the tubes in a purely bi-partisan effort.

38. In a broad way, I have to agree with the statement by Clint Eastwood, but in reality, I don’t think this has been a hoax on the American people. I believe there are numerous others, like me who have known from the start what he was, who his friends were, and basically how he evolved. But to match this knowledge with the people who wanted him and his false promises of the great things to come to be true has been another thing. I think the American people who want to live a life of freedom, not dependence have know from the start what he was, what he believed in, planned to implement, and where he came from. The problem was getting people who vote on emotion rather than fact and people who aren’t willing to allow themselves to see the truth to “think outside the box.”
