CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp calls Trump arrest ‘lawfare’
Conservatives will Fight Back against it ~Matt Schlapp.
By
Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Chairman Matt Schlapp referred to the arrest of former President Donald Trump as “lawfare” and vowed that conservatives will fight back against it.
“We will fight this lawfare at every step,” Schlapp wrote on X, the platform previously called Twitter. “And we will not be afraid to speak out, even when they come for us. We will help fund the lawyers it takes to defend the innocent, and when those lawyers are canceled, we will find new ones.”
Trump’s mugshot was taken at the Fulton County jail in Georgia, where he surrendered on 13 felony charges related to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election result in the state.
These include charges under the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, as well as charges of conspiracy, making false statements and soliciting a public official to violate their oath.
Trump is currently facing four indictments, with two of them being federal.
Schlapp referred to what was happening to the 45th president as “election interference.”
“In real time, left-wing prosecutors are targeting political opponents, engaging in election interference, and using collaborators in the media to warp public opinion,” he wrote in his post.
“The radical Left, woke prosecutors, and their partners in the Biden administration are determined to destroy President Donald Trump and his allies,” Schlapp continued.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
