The fourth annual CPAC Hungary conference is currently taking place in Budapest, Hungary at the Budapest Congress Centre. The official motto of the event is ‘the Age of the Patriots’. The new era was brought about by President Trump’s election victory in the United States last year, as co-host Dániel Bohár joyfully shared with the audience.

Slovak PM Fico Warns EU’s “Mandatory Political Opinion” Spells End Of Common European Project

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico delivered a stark warning to fellow European leaders during his speech at CPAC Hungary in Budapest on Thursday, declaring that the European Union’s attempt to impose a “mandatory political opinion” on its member states signals the collapse of the European project and a departure from democratic values.

“The imposition of a mandatory political opinion, the abolition of the veto, the punishment of the sovereign and the brave, the new Iron Curtain, the preference for war over peace. This is the end of the common European project. This is a departure from democracy. This is the precursor of a huge military conflict,” he warned.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán took the opportunity at the opening of CPAC Hungary to effectively endorse conservative Polish presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki. Poland, he said, is currently trampling on the constitution and the democracy—supported by Brussels. “What a shame!” he said. “Long live Nawrocki!”

The liberal plan for Europe’s future is an indebted war continent, where there is no freedom, only obedience, he said. In contrast, he outlined the Patriots’ four-part plan that could “transform” EU —

  • Peace, not war: We should not bring war to Europe by embracing Ukraine as an EU member
  • Sovereignty, not common debt—nor centralized economic governance
  • Protect our freedoms: freedom of speech, press, and political freedom
  • Take Europe back from migrants: Preserve a Christian culture and national-patriotic curricula.

To accomplish this requires turning off the liberal American money taps, Orbán said—and to do that, conservatives and sovereigntists need to win elections at home.

Orbán also specifically welcomed Alternative für Deutschland’s Alice Weidel, saying it’s important for Hungarians to see that there are “decent Germans who put their country first.”
