It is the largest municipal bankruptcy in US history. Sixty years of flagrant Progressive authority tells the story of gluttonous and top heavy government employee unions in collaboration with Progressive socialistic governance and oversight whose strings are hard-wired from local authority all the way to the beltway. It disintegrated into a socialistic welfare state on one side, powerful labor unions milking the system to the last drop on another, businesses taxed to death to pay for it all, and a corrupt government feeding on the carnage. All warnings went unheeded, and now they want YOU to bail them out.

This bankruptcy is an open window into the true reality of Progressivism, and how it simply is not sustainable in our American capitalistic system. It displays for all to see the outright corruption and out-and-out fraud that develops in a scheme designed to produce unaccountable liquidity in the face of individual irresponsibility. If one studies the downfall of Detroit, one will see big government at the helm. If we do not learn from this grand mistake, all of America will be doomed to repeat it.

Lloyd’s of London is part owner of America.
A review of Detroit’s overwhelming debt load, by Kevyn D. Orr, indicates that default was the only reality left. He found that the cities’ debt was between $18 and $20 billion, and the reality is indeed mind boggling in the breadth and scope of a city used as a pawn for liberal votes.

As of 2013, Detroit was considered America’s poorest city, and since the year 2000, unemployment has tripled. Crime is analyzed to be at a 40 year high, and is home to three of America’s most dangerous neighborhoods. It is estimated that there are now over 78 thousand abandoned properties, and that some can’t even be given away. They sit idle and in disrepair because the population has declined from 1.8 million in 1950 to about 700,000 today.  Jobs have disappeared, and 47 percent of those who remain in Detroit are functionally illiterate, and on the dole.

Why? How? Simply put, it was the essence of Democrat politicians buying the loyalty of Labor Unions with unsustainable and untenable wage and benefit packages for their members. Nine billion out of the 11 billion in unsecured loans are owed to pensions and health benefits for government workers, and is the lion’s share of the city’s $380 million annual deficit. Take a moment and let this sink in, as the primary growth in jobs in the Obama administration is now from government.  Detroit has twice as many pensioned retirees as workers…

Police, fire, even ambulance services are slashed to the bone, and infrastructure is disintegrating to third-world standards. To think that Obama care will be accepted there seems ludicrous in the extreme,  as the educational system is now considered the very worst in the nation, even beating Louisiana and Mississippi. Obama care depends on sucking sustenance form the working man, and there just aren’t enough of them left.

In the middle of the fray, opportunists seek to exploit by bribes, embezzlement and kickbacks, and local government got a clean sweep of some corrupt civil servants from the Mayor down to the House Judiciary Committee, city council and police. The school system was exploited by officials who masterminded a scam to secure a paycheck from 257 fictitious employers, and another gigantic embezzlement scheme of 500 plus illegal healthcare dependents.

Surely, incompetence and inefficiency can take some of the blame, but mostly it was preplanned and ordained by a savvy set of Attorneys who long ago fashioned the law to fit their agenda. The opposition to this bankruptcy quotes the violation in Article IX, Section 2 of Michigan’s Constitution, which stated: “The acquired financial benefits of each pension plan and retirement system of state and political subdivisions shall be a contractual obligation thereof and shall not be diminished or impaired thereby.” It gives no further contentions, like lack of funding, for instance, and became manifest in their Constitutional Conventions of 1961 and 1962.  Seems they saw blue skies then…But wait, there is more… “Financial benefits arising on account of service rendered in each fiscal year shall be funded during that year, and accrued financial benefits of each (government) pension plan shall be a contractual obligation thereof.” Yes, very smart cookies, so smart that they are painting Detroit and all Progressive Cities into a corner. As those in charge have made their monies and ran, we again are left holding the bag. Will these people, Progressives who now span 60 years of infiltration into our country be held accountable for what they do. Well, that is entirely up to you isn’t it?

There was a time when unions served the interest of human liberty, and even strong-armed tactics to promote them justified. It ushered in many benefits we take for granted today, like women’s rights and Child protection from violence, exploitation and abuse, fair pay, a tolerant work week, and so forth. Originally it was an organization of workers formed to promote collective bargaining with employers over wages, hours, fringe benefits, job security, and working conditions. But this system has grown so large, so convoluted, so bureaucratic, that it now threatens the welfare of those it originally swore to protect.  With our jobs going overseas, promoted by an international banking cartel and a Federal Reserve who sponsor war for the profits of nation building, today, the use of slave labor is far more lucrative than a union shop. And as they die, the struggle for their last breath will finish off America, as they have become little more than parasites in a system that has no more sustenance to give. In the middle of the ciaos, unions have been used as a tool for the Progressive left to gain a foothold in this country, and they now threaten the very existence of a free market and a capitalistic society, seemingly just as originally planned. Such smart cookies, America conquered without a shot, as international bankers buy up the ashes for pennies on the dollar.

It, and their corrupt leftist sponsors, with traitorous Neocons on the right, and an ignorant and lazy marshmallow populous in the middle, they have grown unchecked. All unaccountable institutions have a tendency to do this, just like the 17 trillion National Debt on the back of our children, about 56K each, and who will lose will be the hard working and trusting Americans who looked for a place that could protect them from just that. America is broke, and unions will be the very first to realize that, and the unsustainable welfare, socialism, and collectivism as promoted by Progressives, will finally be seen to be our ultimate downfall.  But they won’t be alone, the welfare state will follow, and those who implemented the final nail of this debacle will be promoted.  So clever, they seem to be far beyond rule of law. They own the black box, the banks, and vie for your soul…

And now, Martial Law is proposed in Detroit, the veritable endgame of the Progressive movement. It will be good practice, and set a well-rehearsed precedent, a stage being set to break our backs and nail the last of our constitution and civil liberties to the wall.  Unless, of course, a miracle happens, and America wakes up. But it does look doubtful, as football season approaches

  1. Talk about living on the public trough. Exxon Mobil made $45 billion in profits in 2009 but paid zero in taxes.

General Electric made $10.3bn and received a $1.1bn rebate, Wells Fargo had profits of $19bn and received tax credits of $19bn after it purchased Wachovia Bank.

The bank-caused, tax-loss-inducing foreclosure crisis resulted in a huge loss of tax base for Detrioit.

One could go on and on but those lost tax dollars could end Detroit’s and other municipalities’ problems once and for all.

It is no surprise that Detroit has a financial problem. It is a one-industry city that went from 12 car plants to one. Globalisation, automation and the seeking of ever greater profits caused all car manufacturing companies, domestic and foreign, to move production elsewhere.

All contributed to Detroit losing almost 90 per cent of its jobs and tax base. No city could survive such a loss.

If there is a political class to blame for corruption or dysfunction, look no further than the Republican Party and its endless list of extremist, authoritarian actions and anti-democratic policies.

The main problem is not a lack of money – it is too much money in too few hands.

Growing inequality, not budget deficits, are the number one problem. Until that problem is solved, others will not go away.

  2. Same problem here in Canada…what a mess coming our way…

“We don’t want the party to end, the “free” trips, expense accounts…perks, gold plated pensions, free this, free that…Yes indeed, see we in government, are all entitled to our entitlements folks and we can’t stop that, at least not until we retire. Our unions say so, it’s ours and we want it now…$$” Nice eh? See what working for government has become? Go look at all the debt mounting. Governments all across Canada, the US… have been on a hiring binge, a spending spree for decades now. Government = police, fire, hospitals, teachers, lawyers…= high salaries, bonuses, pensions, perks… all out of control for decades now = More and more debt…making the connection yet?

Decades of overspending…more and more debt, bigger government, see what these people are doing to future generations?

Record personal debt in Canada and the US…something has to give.

Record low interest rates…for now…this will not end pretty.

When and how does it end? Greece, Ireland, Californian, Wisconsin, Detroit, Quebec, Ontario…all technically bankrupt…a real mess in the making and no one in government or the mainstream media (CBC, CTV…) is dealing with it. Nice eh?

So called “Conservatives” have allowed all of these expensive, divisive liberal polices, and departments to remain. How come?

Solution? Well only one folks – We need a new party, a new leader willing to deal with the facts, the truth for a change. We need a real fiscally conservative, common sense leader/party…. Things need to be cut, reduced and eliminated in all government. Government is too big, intrusive, and they are accumulating too much debt, year after year after year. That’s right let’s get cutting non essential services, expensive waste, bilingualism, multiculturalism, phony rights departments…the charter, CBC, all this green nonsense, bring in a government salary cap, a hiring freeze, reduce pensions… all sorts of big government BS. The future is at stake here and no one is willing to deal with this, how sad, how pathetic, all of you clowns in government and mainstream media.

The real issue that no-one is talking about is the private sector versus government sector. Government hiring, spending and debt is out of control and has been for decades. This is the great divide in Canada and its getting worse yearly.
