DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile

According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.

DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

Modern Survival Blog reported:

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.

The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).

DHS even released a video on their newly purchased MRAPs.

Via Pat Dollard:

The MRAP featured in this video is was in Albuquerque, New Mexico for Law Enforcement Day which was held at a local area Target Store. This MRAP is stationed in El Paso, Texas at The Homeland Security Investigations Office. MRAP is a Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicle.

  1. So, is this is what the government is going to use to come after US citizens? Obama campaigned in 2008 that he was going to assemble a civilian army that was as well equipped as our military. You forgot to mention that Homeland Security has ordered 7,000 fully automatic assault rifles and around 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition.

  2. Since when are mines a problem on our streets? When did law enforcement think shooting from gun ports of a vehicle on our streets seem like a good idea? What do you think about because it;s illegal internationally to deploy poison gas as a weapon, that we can use it NATIONALLY? That is what Saddam Hussain did and the international community could do nothing and did do nothing..All technically legal within ones own borders. This of course has not gone unoticed by our own government. We are being conditioned to accept more and more loss of our freedoms and safety in the very name of protecting our freedom and safety! So, deployment of poison gas may well be in our future and we will, like with armed drones now flying over our cities, we will accept it as ” for our own protection and safety “

  3. My comment was an attempt at sarcastic irony. To comment on such an article with anything other than sarcasm is delusional. You are correct about waking up. However, it is our countrymen who need to WAKE UP, or the future is going to be a nightmare.

  4. JOY WAKE UP???? DO NOT KNOW WHO THE NEXT BAD GUY WILL BE???? LOOK IN THE MIRROR…..CAN YOU NOT SEE THE PATTERN? GOV BUYS GUNS AT THE SAME TIME TRIES TO SCARE US OUT OF HAVING GUNS…..YOU THINK YOU WILL HAVE THE FREEDOM TO BROWSE A SITE LIKE THIS OR MAKE A COMMENT? NOT IF THEY ARE HOLDING A GUN TO YOUR HEAD…

  5. My audio wouldn’t work when I watched the video. Maybe they mentioned how they justify the purchase of all of this. To protect who from what? It says “Immigration and Customs Enforcement” on the vehicles. If they are able to help our law enforcement officers be safe while protecting us from the “bad guys”, then I’m all for them. Maybe they are taking them to our unsecured borders, even as we speak? Maybe they will be useful in dealing with an Islamic cell? I wonder who will be deemed the “bad guys” in the future?
