Former MSNBC analyst Keith Olbermann on Monday demanded for the Supreme Court to “be dissolved” after it issued a unanimous ruling that states cannot remove former President Donald Trump – or any candidate – from the ballot over the 14th Amendment’s clause banning people who “engaged in insurrection” from holding office.

Olbermann did not even spare the court’s three liberal justices – Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson – from his wrath. He specifically called the trio out, although they agreed with the majority’s judgment but offered a concurring opinion different from the majority.

“The Supreme Court has betrayed democracy. Its members including Jackson, Kagan and Sotomayor have proved themselves inept at reading comprehension. And collectively the ‘court’ has shown itself to be corrupt and illegitimate,” Olbermann said on X, formerly Twitter, shortly after the court’s decision. “It must be dissolved.”

Congress has the power to structure the Supreme Court, but it cannot abolish the branch of government.

Olbermann also used derogatory language to describe the court in another post he made in response to one user who replied to his original post, “Dissolve the separation of powers to save democracy?”

“If the political whores on the court are overruling quite explicit language in the constitution to benefit one politician, your ‘separation of powers’ died long ago,” he wrote.

This is not the first time that Olbermann has called to dissolve the Supreme Court. After the high court overruled the landmark 1973 abortion case Roe v. Wade in 2022, Olberman wrote on X: “Again: It has become necessary to dissolve the Supreme Court of the United States. This is no longer a court. It is a Minority imposing its religious beliefs on the Majority: our House of Lords; Superlegislature; Theocracy. Where possible, states must ignore its invalid edicts.”

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
