Fauci says Fox’s Watters should be fired for ‘kill shot’ comment, network fires back

Watters made the comments Monday onstage at a conservative political conference

Dr. Anthony Fauci is calling on the Fox News Channel to fire network host Jessie Watters for soliciting attendees of a recent event to stage a video “ambush” on President Biden’s top medical adviser in which he also used the words “kill shot” and “Boom. He’s dead.”

Watters made the comments Monday onstage at a conservative political conference, according to The Washington Post.

“Now you go in for the kill shot,” Watters said. “The kill shot? With an ambush? Deadly. Because he doesn’t see it coming.

“This is when you say: Dr. Fauci, you funded risky research at a sloppy Chinese lab. The same lab that sprung this pandemic on the world. You know why people don’t trust you, don’t you?”

The so-called ambush video is a surprise, on-the-street interview with an unsuspecting  person.

While also telling potential takers of the offer to be “respectful,” Watters also appeared to entice them by saying: “Imagine Tucker Carlson teases that … .’Coming up: Brave college student confronts Lord Fauci at dinner. Exclusive footage.’ … That’s what we want. That changes the whole conversation of the country.”

On Tuesday, Fauci, also the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told CNN: “That’s horrible. That just is such a reflection of the craziness that goes on in society, also according to The Post.

“The only thing that I have ever done, throughout these two years, is to encourage people to practice good public health practices. … And, for that, you have some guy out there saying that people should be giving me a ‘kill shot’? To ‘ambush’ me? I mean, what kind of craziness is there in society these days?”

Fauci also called for Watters, who rose to fame on Fox News with such interviews, to be “fired on the spot.”

The network later released a statement, upon watching a video of the event and reading a transcript of it, saying Watters’s words “have been twisted completely out of context,” The Post also reports.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
