Federal OSHA And Microwave Industry Employees Safety Regulations

Federal OSHA And Microwave Industry Employees Safety Regulations

By Catherine J. Frompovich

According to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) webpage “Non-Ionizing Radiation” Overview, we read:

Non-ionizing radiation is described as a series of energy waves composed of oscillating electric and magnetic fields traveling at the speed of light. Non-ionizing radiation includes the spectrum of ultraviolet (UV), visible light, infrared (IR), microwave (MW), radio frequency (RF), and extremely low frequency (ELF). Lasers commonly operate in the UV, visible, and IR frequencies. Non-ionizing radiation is found in a wide range of occupational settings and can pose a considerable health risk to potentially exposed workers if not properly controlled. [CJF emphasis]

OSHA goes on to explain Extremely Low Frequency Radiation (ELF) and other radiation waves, including Radio frequency and Microwave Radiation, which says:

Microwave radiation (MW) is absorbed near the skin, whileRadiofrequency (RF) radiation may be absorbed throughout the body. At high enough intensities both will damage tissue through heating. Sources of RF and MW radiation include radio emitters and cell phones. [CJF emphasis]

It must be noted OSHA needs to update its website to include AMI Smart Metersthat operate using microwaves and radio (RF) transmitters, called ZigBee radio modules (wireless electronics), which operate/function using radiofrequencies. Therefore, there are double radiation whammies emitted by AMI Smart Meters!

Health and Safety Issues

Microwaves emit two radiation waves: thermal (heat) and non-thermal [1]. There is 2008 research documenting adverse health effects from non-thermal waves impacting eyes.

In this study we show non-thermal effects of microwaves at the same frequency that is used in cellular phones on the intact lens in organ culture. Microwaves damaged the lens optical quality, as measured by focal length variability. Microwave damage was dose-dependent and at the doses tested was reversible when exposure stopped. Lens morphology was strikingly different in microwave-exposed and conductive heat-exposed lenses, indicating that the effects due to microwaves are different from thermal effects. Remarkably, microwave damage was seen in each of the parameter analyzed. Our results demonstrate that while microwave damage to optical quality was reversed when the exposure was stopped, morphological changes to the epithelium were irreversible. [2] [CJF emphasis]

[morphology n. The branch of biology that deals with the form and structure of organisms without consideration of function. The form and structure of an organism or one of its parts.http://www.dictionary.com/browse/morphological]

Please remember, both AMI Smart Meters and cellular phones operate in the same frequency ranges. However, consumers can turn off cell phones; they cannot turn off AMI Smart Meters! Please note where a Smart Meter appears on the chart below!

Nevertheless, the microwave industry’s premiere professional association ICNIRPadamantly refuses to acknowledge, accept or publish the science that there are non-thermal radiation waves emitted by microwaves, despite the microwave industry’s-funded research results found 32% of their studies documented non-thermal adverse effects. Interesting? What does that tell you about consensus science?

And still, the cell phone industry vigorously denies any adverse health effects from cell phones which categorically operate on microwaves as do AMI Smart Meters. Listen very carefully to the Berkeley, California, debate on Cell Phone Right to Know at a hearing in this video!

Microwave Workers, Their Health and Safety

Those who are cognizant of the adverse health effects from microwaves, question how microwave industry employees, who install and maintain various cell towers, etc., make out regarding their health and safety. OSHA and EPA basically rely upon each state for such regulations. However, until just recently, only two states had such laws on their books. Washington State recently became the third to do so.

October 12, 2017, Washington State Department of Labor and Industries issued a press release wherein the first two paragraphs say:

Cell tower climbers and telecommunication workers in Washington will have greater protection from safety and health hazards in the future under new rules adopted last week by the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I).Washington is the third state in the nation to adopt rules that encompass emerging telecommunication technology.

This is the final step in a multi-year effort to update the state’s 40-year-old telecommunication rules to include new safety and health standards for communication tower workers. The new rules take effect Jan. 1, 2018. [CJF emphasis]

Readers should note 40-year-old safety and health standards just now are being updated!

On the other hand, what are the remaining 47 U.S. states doing about telecommunication workers safety? The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is only a mere 20 years behind in setting ‘safety’ standards for telecommunication users and consumers!

THAT is how the microwave industry, in this writer’s opinion, can keep its false mantra and ‘documentation’ microwave technology is ‘safe’, including there are no non-thermal radiation waves.

That, too, is how the industry is able to bamboozle state public utility commissions along with its lobbyists’ deep pockets influencing legislators. “Follow the money” helps state legislators accept outdated consensus science to finance their reelection campaigns, especially when applied to AMI Smart Meters, in this writer’s opinion.

The microwave industry and its premiere professional association obviously keep the ‘science’ purposely old to claim, therefore, that more studies are needed, whereas in reality, those studies have been done and published, but denied byconsensus science ICNIRP operates on and provides to the World Health Organization. The WHO’s guidelines were last updated in April of 1998! It’s now 2017, when the industry is pushing 5G; where are the safety studies on 3G, 4G and now 5G?

According to the Washington State L&I press release, the other two states with telecommunication safety rules are North Carolina and Michigan.

If the microwave industry is undeniably lax about health and safety concerns and rules for their employees, who work with that technology, can readers imagine what kind of garbage science the microwave industry provides for consumers’ health and safety guidelines other than “more studies need to be done”?

Below are resources for microwave industry employees who feel they have been harmed; their complaints have not been heard nor dealt with; want to become a “whistleblower” or seek legal recourse for on-the-job health damages, e.g., electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) or what medical doctors call idiopathic environmental intolerance (IEI).

Published scientific information confirming EHS/IEI as real, not a mental issue, appears in Functional brain MRI in patients complaining of electrohypersensitivity after long term exposure to electromagnetic fields.” TheConclusion reached states:

We propose that functional MRI studies should become a diagnostic aid when evaluating a patient who claims electrohypersensitivity (EHS) and has otherwise normal studies. Interestingly, the differential diagnosis for the abnormalities seen on the fMRI includes head injury. It turns out that many of our patients indeed had a history of head injury which was then followed sometime later by the development of EHS. Many of our patients also had a history of exposure to potentially neurotoxic chemicals, especially mold. Head injury and neurotoxic chemical exposure may make a patient more vulnerable to develop EHS. [3]

Serious neurotoxic chemicals [4] routinely are injected into newborn infants, 2, 4 and 6 month olds, toddlers and teens as part of mandatory vaccination programs! Couple that with infants being subjected to baby monitors and in-home Wi-Fi not wired, is there any wonder as to why there are so many children on the Autism Spectrum?
