Florida Surgeon General: ‘Refuse to Participate’ in Mask Mandates
Calling for mass civil disobedience if public health “experts” once again try to impose mask mandates ~Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo
Florida’s surgeon general Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo is calling on mass civil disobedience if public health “experts” once again try to impose mask mandates, despite those non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) having failed spectacularly to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the United States and throughout the world.
Specifically, Florida’s chief health officer has urged the public to oppose the “terrible policies” surrounding mask mandates and advised Americans to not abide by renewed masking requirements.
“What do you call re-imposing mask policies that have been proven ineffective or restarting lockdowns that are known to cause harm?” Ladapo questioned on Twitter/X. “You don’t call it sanity. These terrible policies only work with your cooperation. How about refusing to participate…”

You don’t call it sanity.
These terrible policies only work with your cooperation. How about refusing to participate…

This guidance from Ladapo is issued at a time when educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and commercial enterprises nationwide are reinstating mask requirements. This renewed call for mask mandates is in reaction to alarmism in the mainstream media and from some scientific experts about a purported rise in Covid subvariant cases.
Earlier in the week, Morris Brown College in Atlanta revealed its plans to reimpose a mask requirement, despite having no known Covid cases on campus. Similarly, Lionsgate film studio in California initially announced it would re-establish mask mandates for specific offices in Santa Monica. After receiving criticism, Lionsgate reversed the decision, stating that they had managed to control the supposed spread of Covid.
Corporate media channels have also been advocating for a return to mask mandates this week. CNN posted an article last Wednesday suggesting, “It may be time to break out the masks against Covid, some experts say.” A medical contributor for CBS News advised on Friday that “People 65-plus and people who are immunocompromised should strongly consider masking during flu, RSV, COVID season while in indoor public spaces. And for everyone else — it all depends on what their risk tolerance is.”
The Florida Surgeon General has been a long-standing critic of mask mandates. In March 2022, Ladapo stated that the justifications given for advocating mask mandates are “a lie.” “It needs to stop and people need to un-believe it,” he cautioned.
Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former FDA chief who quickly transitioned after leaving office to become a Pfizer board member, appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” in January 2022 and debunked the mask myth.
“Cloth masks aren’t going to provide a lot of protection, that’s the bottom line,” he said. “This is an airborne illness. We now understand that. And a cloth mask is not going to protect you from a virus that spreads through airborne transmission. It could protect better through droplet transmission, something like the flu, but not this coronavirus.”
Dr. Anthony Fauci had once shared a similarly candid assessment as Gottlieb’s on the efficacy of masks in a February 2020 email to an HHS official.
“Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection,” he wrote in the email.
“The typical mask you buy in the drug store is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is small enough to pass through material,” he said. “It might, however, provide some slight benefit in keep out gross droplets if someone coughs or sneezes on you.”
Dr. Leanna Wen, a medical contributor for CNN, also shared a moment of honesty on the network.

“Don’t wear a cloth mask,” she said. “Cloth masks are little more than facial decorations. There’s no place for them in light of Omicron.”
Despite more than 99% mask compliance in Asian countries like South Korea, there was still an explosion of infections. In the United States, 97% of Americans over age 16 had been shown to either have been previously infected or vaccinated against Covid-19, according to the latest research published at the CDC. Of this group, an estimated three out of four Americans had been “infected” with Covid-19.
The masks do not stop the spread of airborne viruses like Covid-19. This is a known fact — not speculation.
Dr. Ladapo has also stood against mandates for vaccines. He collaborated with Governor Ron DeSantis to position Florida as the first state to advise against Covid vaccinations for healthy minors. This recommendation followed the state’s release of a study suggesting that the vaccine could pose heightened health risks for young men.
“In Florida alone, there was a 1,700% increase in VAERS reports after the release of the COVID-19 vaccine, compared to an increase of 400% in overall vaccine administration for the same time period,” Florida reported and provided a graphic.
“The reporting of life-threatening conditions increased over 4,400%,” the alert continued. “This is a novel increase and was not seen during the 2009 H1N1 vaccination campaign. There is a need for additional unbiased research to better understand the COVID-19 vaccines’ short- and long-term effects.”

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
