KEN’S CORNER: John Adams Encouragement Rings In the Heart of America

By TLB Contributing Writer: Ken LaRive

As we sit together as a nation on the rim of a slippery abyss, we pause for a moment to look behind us, for solace. Some of us who perceive the dangers ahead are asking both powerful and rational questions, and are beginning to realize full well the profound and painful answer: Who were we, and what have we become?

Our country, so dear to our hearts, is slipping from our grasp, and hindsight is the only measure we have to determine both worth and hope.

Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson…

Men of indomitable will and sound principle explained to us something so profound, it seems that it can only be whispered in America today: Liberty, is God given. Scream it to the heavens! Liberty is not granted by government, it comes to us from God!

By candle light, they gave us A Decoration of Independence, a Constitution, and a Bill of Rights, with trembling hands.

At the Constitutional Convention an obscure woman approached Benjamin Franklin and asked whether the Constitution established a republic or monarchy. He said to her: “A republic, madam, if you can keep it.”

Below this commentary are John Adam’s final words there, meant to encourage his fellow assemblymen to sign of the Declaration of Independence, though there were others emphatically opposed to it. These words were taken from John McCullough’s biography on John Adams, and they should split the hearts of every single American with both pride and hope.

We are Americans! The greatest social experiment the world has ever witnessed, and the blood and honor of those brave men still course through our veins!

Do not, do Not give up hope! The truth of what they stood for is ultimate, and cannot be denied. It is mirrored in the truth of Ron Paul, the Thomas Jefferson of our age. He opened our minds, and freed our American spirit. He displaced apathy with hope, and just as our founding fathers knew emphatically… once understood, there is no turning back.

This is why a person who finally reaches Ron Paul, realizes that there is no higher place to go. All others of this time will be mere footnotes in history, but Ron Paul’s words will ring true in America forever. He holds before us a mirror, a mirror of truth.

As Jefferson finished his speech, John Adams stood up…

Objects of the most stupendous magnitude. Mirrors which will affect the lives of millions, born and unborn are now before us. We must expect a great expense of blood and pain, but we must always remember that a free constitution of civil government cannot be purchased at too dear a rate as there is nothing on this side of Jerusalem of greater importance to mankind.

My worthy colleague from Pennsylvania has spoken with great ingenuity and eloquence. He has given you a grim prognostication of our national future, but where he foresees apocalypse, I see hope.

I see a new nation ready to take its place in the world, not an empire, but a republic and a republic of laws, not men.

Gentlemen, we are in the very midst of revolution, the most complete, unexpected and remarkable in the history of the world. How few of the human race have ever had an opportunity for choosing a system of government for themselves and for their children?

I am not without apprehensions gentlemen, but the end we have in sight is more than worth all the means. My belief says that the hour has come, my judgment approves this measure and my whole heart is in it. All that I have, all that I am and all that I that I hope in this life, I am now ready to stake upon it.

While I live, let me have a country. A free country!” John Adams — 1776

From the Author, Ken LaRive – We in the Liberty movement have been fighting to take back this country for less than a decade, peacefully and with the love of God and country in our hearts. Our banner has been trampled on and displaced by a multitude of distractions, further eroding our nation and the cause for Liberty. And so, as we are pulled by forces we cannot fathom, powerful entities with unlimited resources stolen from our future, unaccountable trillions printed out of thin air and put on our backs as debt, we must formulate the most pitiful of all questions any patriot might ask in the final hour: Are we going to fight for our master’s tyranny, or are we going to demand the return of our civil liberties and Constitution? Are we going to choose The Banner of Liberty, or the shackles of voluntary servitude? Will it be a war for corporate profit, or a war to regain our ability to self govern, as the blood and toil of our forefathers presented to us, their children, as a gift? I fear that decision is emanate. I fear that any decision will be a hard one, but my greatest fear of all is that the decision has already been made for us.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)

  1. I love America… and what is it? It takes a bit of reflection to find. It was a dream, and not just any dream, but a dream that is held in the heart of every man who has ever lived. It’s about Liberty, my friend. Liberty from Tyranny! It’s about your God Given Civil Liberties. Civil Liberties are not granted by men! What a profound revelation! What priceless gift! Our ability to forge your own destiny, dream, and make it happen. A Constitutional Republic based on Law, created and inspired by a concept never achieved in the history of mankind, where our country, America, belongs to We The People. It is a Union, bequeathed to us by our founding fathers, a precious gift, a priceless idea made manifest, a destiny we entirely own, a future we dream. God bless America. God bless, The United States of America.
