Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced on Thursday she would introduce articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, citing his alleged failure to secure the southern border and refusal to enforce immigration laws.

“It is with the highest amount of solemnity that I announce my intention to introduce articles of impeachment today on the head of this America-at-last Executive Branch that has been working since January 20th, 2021, to systematically destroy this country: the President of the United States, Joseph Robinette Biden,” she said at a Thursday press conference.

Greene contended that the president “deliberately compromised our national security by refusing to enforce immigration laws and secure our border” and that “[h]is administration has willfully refused to maintain operational control as is required by law.”

Her comments follow the end of the Title 42 order that permitted border agents to speedily deport migrants who hailed from nations known to host a communicable disease. Prior to the order’s expiration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountered roughly 211,000 illegal migrants at the southern border in April alone. In the week leading up to Title 42’s May expiration, authorities witnessed record numbers with daily encounters reportedly exceeding 10,000.

The move comes as the latest in a flurry of impeachment declarations the Georgia Republican has made against numerous administration officials, including FBI Director Christopher Wray, D.C. U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The White House has dismissed Greene’s declaration.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
