Moral Exhibitionism: Airbnb Terminates Service in Russia

This will stop Putin’s war machine

American peer-to-peer lodging service Airbnb has ceased operations in Russia, preventing ordinary Russians from renting apartments in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

The announcement was made by the company’s CEO Brian Chesky via Twitter.

“Airbnb is suspending all operations in Russia and Belarus,” he tweeted.

And just like that, Russian tanks turned around and are heading back to Moscow. A ceasefire has been declared and Moscow is preparing to negotiate the terms of their surrender.

Preventing Russians from renting holiday accommodation is guaranteed to stop Putin’s war machine, as is ruining the businesses of rental home owners.

Chesky’s decision will of course achieve nothing other than causing inconvenience and economic hardship for ordinary Russians, the vast majority of whom have nothing to do with the actions of their government.

As we have repeatedly highlighted, companies across the west are trying to outdo each other with grand displays of moral exhibitionism, competing over who can discriminate against Russians the hardest.

This lunacy reached a temporary peak yesterday when it was announced that Siberian cats would be banned from all international cat competitions.

In another act of petty absurdity, EA Sports announced they would erase all Russian teams from their video games.

Because removing computer code and graphics from FIFA 2022 is sure to stop Putin’s war machine.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
