Rebellion Brewing at the FBI: Agency in Turmoil over Comey Corruption!

By Warner Todd Huston

There was once a day when the FBI’s famed G-Men were celebrated on stage and screen. But these days the luster of the FBI’s star has decidedly faded especially with the decision of its director to allow the criminal activities perpetrated by Hillary Clinton to go unpunished because the director is a crass, left-wing political operative instead of a hard-nosed man of law and order. And his actions have caused a major problem among agents who still want their work to be respected.

For Americans of a certain age, “The FBI” immediately conjures up the stirring horns of the theme song for “The FBI” TV series starring Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. The show which so proudly noted was “a Quinn Martin production” at the start of every episode had a fairly long run airing from 1965 to 1974.

The series was probably one of the best examples for the gravity and trust Americans once imbued into the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The show’s stars were always deadly serious, highly intelligent, and always got their man. They successfully investigated everything from theft, to espionage, murder, and fraud and the public ate it up year after year.

But that was a day when the Bureau was seen as a trusted agency that could be expected to be a dispassionate, effective investigative service. Still, the show aired during the worst of the Vietnam era just as Americans were turning away from their past explicit trust in government institutions.

The show is in stark contrast to today’s shows based on Bureaus like the FBI. Today we see such agencies as sometimes distrusted by the public and generally featuring at least one agent who turns out to be an enemy to law and justice or even the very country itself.

Hollywood aside, the FBI has had its ups and downs, certainly, but usually it found those low times due to some mishap or bad policy decisions based on matters of process by its upper management. But despite some of the worst 1970s conspiracy theories, rarely has the FBI been considered a bald-faced political actor until Director James Comey tarnished the shield by becoming a member of Hillary Clinton’s election campaign.

When Comey decided that Hillary would be let off scot free for her clear and purposeful violations of national security, he turned the FBI from a serious policing agency into a low, mean, transparent arm of the Democrat Party.

Early in September, we here at Constitution.com published a detailed look at much of the proof of Hillary’s crimes and concluded that Comey disgraced himself by his bald political actions to help Hillary escape justice and get elected the next president of the United States.

Suffice to say, we showed that the FBI broke its own practices to make sure that Hillary was given every out possible and Comey himself made up out of whole cloth the idea that “intent” should guide prosecution.

On that article, the very first comment posted in the comment section most encapsulates how badly Comey’s actions have harmed the agency he leads.

That comment read:

“I am going to keep saying this. The FBI is no longer a legitimate or competent law enforcement agency. The FBI has become nothing more than goons for the DNC and the Democratic Party. The FBI should now be considered a domestic corrupt terrorist organization. Due to the FBI’s corruption and political affiliation with the Democratic Party, they should no longer have jurisdiction over a single American citizen. Comey is now guilty of treason by default and association. He has violated his sworn oath and must be removed.”

Now it appears that many career agents of the FBI itself have come to agree with our Constitution.com commenter and these agents are on the verge of an internal revolt over their director’s naked political actions.

According to recent reports the agents and investigators involved with the Clinton case had unanimously recommended that Comey forward t0 the Department of Justice the advice to indict Hillary for her crimes. Comey, though, bent over backwards to come up with his shady “intent” reading of the law apparently sending his own agents into despair.

As Fox News reported on October 13, Comey’s move shocked his underlings.

“No trial level attorney agreed, no agent working the case agreed, with [Director Comey’s] decision not to prosecute — it was a top-down decision,” an inside FBI source told Fox News.

“It is safe to say the vast majority felt she should be prosecuted,” the FBI official told the cable newser. “We were floored while listening to the FBI briefing because Comey laid it all out, and then said ‘but we are doing nothing,’ which made no sense to us.”

FBIThe New York Daily News also noted how damaging the director’s decision has been to the agency.

“Veteran FBI agents say FBI Director James Comey has permanently damaged the bureau’s reputation for uncompromising investigations with his ‘cowardly’ whitewash of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information using an unauthorized private email server,” the paper reported on October 6.

In a recent interview on Washington D.C.’s WMAL radio, former U.S. Attorney Joe DiGenova was also thoroughly disgusted by Comey’s dishonest political decision and even called the director a “dirty cop.”

This is a big development. This means there are some great, traditional, honest people inside the FBI and DOJ who will not let this stand. They know that Comey is a dirty cop and they are disgusted. Inside the bureau I had a meeting today with a senior former FBI agent who told me this exact story. That people are starting to talk. They’re calling their former friends outside the bureau asking for help. We were asked, today, to provide legal representation for people inside the bureau and we agreed to do so. And, to former agents who want to come forward to talk.

Comey thought this was going to go away. It is not. People inside the are furious. They are embarrassed. They feel they are being led by a hack. But, more than that, they think he’s a crook. They think he’s fundamentally dishonest. They have no confidence in him. The bureau, inside, right now… is a mess.

The damage Comey did to the agency is real and deep. Not just with the general public but within the agency itself.

Dennis V. Hughes, the first chief of the FBI’s computer investigations unit, put it succinctly and was adamant in the pages of the Post that Comey has done lasting damage to the FBI’s reputation

“The FBI has politicized itself, and its reputation will suffer for a long time. I hold Director Comey responsible,” Hughes said in disgust.

But, like many supporters of Hillary Clinton, a little law breaking is nothing to worry about when the real goal is to get her into the White House.

  1. When Hillary goes down all these criminals will follow. When a psychopath fails they always put the blame on others. It will be the greatest change we can believe in. Congress will be removed and replaced. These idiots need another war because there is nothing left to steal at the taxpayers expense.
