SEED: The Untold Story is Screening around the Country

Preface by Cathy Geibel TLB writer/ reporter

There is something in this film clip that resonates to the core of my being.  The growing of food, the saving of seed for the next season is something our ancestors have been doing for thousands of years and has become part of our very own DNA.  This beautifully done film documentary helps expose the plight of our seed stores and how Biotech companies such as Monsanto are threatening our food independence. We must be vigilant and on local levels help propagate and store seeds or risk forever becoming slaves to companies such as Monsanto.

Please enjoy the following film preview.  I for one will be looking for local screenings in my area. (CG)

– Vandana Shiva

SEED: The Untold Story is a feature-length documentary featuring Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbell, and Winona LaDuke, following passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000-year old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds. SEED is executive produced by Marisa Tomei, Marc Turtletaub (Little Miss Sunshine), and Phil Fairclough (Grizzly Man, Cave of Forgotten Dreams).
