The week in whoppers: DA Bragg’s laugher on crime, the WH’s balloon malarkey

Diary of Disturbing Disinformation and Dangerous Delusions

This vow:

“We cannot and will not normalize serious criminal conduct.”

— Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, Tuesday

We say: In his Day 1 memo, Bragg vowed not to prosecute numerous crimes or seek a prison sentence for any crime except the very worst, like murder.

In 2022, his first year as Manhattan DA, he busted down more than half of his felony cases to misdemeanors — declining to prosecute 35% more felonies than in 2019.

Just last week, he lowered a felony charge against a career criminal (with 90 arrests!) to a misdemeanor. He’s all about normalizing serious crime!

This tweet:

We say: Huh? What GOP leader is “trying to wipe away our history” — of racism or anything else?

Yes, some, like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, want to ban divisive, false school curricula like critical race theory.

This claim:

The Chinese spy balloon that floated over the US in February likely collected intelligence from several military sites.

“The administration identified [the Chinese spy-balloon threat] and did something about it.”

— WH Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, Tuesday

We say: Sure, it did.

It sat on its hands and watched the balloon fly over the entire US for a whole week — as it likely, per a new report, gathered sensitive information and transmitted it back to Beijing in real-time.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
