Former President Donald Trump’s campaign keeps rolling in South Carolina, wracking up more endorsements from GOP officials who include former supporters of Sen. Tim Scott’s fizzled White House bid.

The breadth of Trump support in the Palmetto State was evident Saturday when the crowd at the South Carolina-Clemson college football game greeted the 45th president’s arrival at stadium with chants of  “We want Trump!”

Trump also announced Saturday that his South Carolina political leadership team had expanded to more than 80 endorsements, in addition to 250 grassroots leaders who endorsed him in June. He has by far the most support of any candidate in the solidly Republican state.

“South Carolina saw its best years under President Trump and the McMaster-Evette Administration,” State Senate Banking and Insurance Committee Chairman Ronnie Cromer said in explaining his endorsement. “Tim Scott is a dear friend, and now that he is out of the race, I strongly urge South Carolina’s voters to join me in rallying behind President Trump.”

State House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bruce Bannister was another to switch his support Saturday to Trump after Scott dropped out.

“After supporting South Carolina’s own beloved Senator Tim Scott, I am excited today to wholeheartedly endorse President Trump as the best candidate to defeat Joe Biden in 2024,” Bannister said. “He is a proven leader who will turn around the economy, protect our border and make America energy independent once again.”

Trump’s endorsement list reads like a Who’s Who of South Carolina politics, including Gov. Henry McMaster, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham,  Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette and Attorney General Alan Wilson.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
