Trump vows to fight wokeness in education at Moms for Liberty Summit

Former President Donald Trump on Friday delivered remarks at a Philadelphia event hosted by parental rights group Moms for Liberty, in which he vowed to eliminate federal diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and to fight school instruction in divisive, politicized subjects such as LGBT issues and Critical Race Theory.
“To rigorously enforce yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling, I will eliminate all ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ programs across the entire federal government,” he promised. “And I will direct the DOJ to pursue Civil Rights claims against any school, corporation, or university that engages in unlawful racial discrimination. We will restore a society based on Equality, Liberty, and MERIT.”
The Supreme Court on Thursday determined that race-based admissions in colleges are unconstitutional.
“On Day One, I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing Critical Race Theory, transgender insanity, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content on our children,” he added. “Just last week, test scores revealed the worst student achievement levels in reading and math in over 30 years. Under my leadership, the 1619 Project, Climate Change, and 87 different genders will be OUT, and Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic will be back in.”
Trump further vowed to uphold the rights of religious Americans and to use the Department of Justice to protect them and their rights rather than target them, which he contended the Biden administration had done.
“The Marxism being preached in our children’s classrooms is totally hostile to religious Americans, and in many ways, it now resembles an Established Religion of its own,” he continued. “The Marxist left is like a cult with its own creeds, its own mantras, and its own rituals. Instead of taking children to church, they believe in taking children to drag shows. Instead of teaching them to say their prayers, they teach them to recite their pronouns.”
“For any public schools that are engaged in these militant practices, I will instruct the DOJ to pursue them as violations of the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause of the Constitution,” he went on. “When I get back in the White House, I will totally obliterate the Deep State. I will fire the rogue bureaucrats who weaponized our Justice System—starting with every corrupt official who targeted Moms for Liberty and other patriotic parents.”
Republicans have long criticized the Biden Department of Justice for its alleged “weaponization” of the justice system. Drawing particular ire was an October 2021 memo from Attorney General Merrick Garland to the FBI directing them to explore possible threats from parents at school board meetings.
