What’s Really Going on in Austria? Mandatory VVV Yet Curious Timing, and LOTTERY TICKETS!

ER Editor: Reports are circulating that the mandatory vaccine law in Austria has just been passed by lawmakers, to take effect February 1st. Below are 2 stories on this, one from RT and an excerpt from Politico.eu (MSM alert for both).

Commentators remarked on this at the time, but look at the timing. Austria, the home country of the world’s most notorious fascist leader, proposed this piece of tyranny LAST NOVEMBER. For roll-out in … FEBRUARY. If they’re really serious, December 1st would have been an appropriate date. Now, the February 1st law doesn’t come into practical effect in the way of fines being imposed until a further SIX weeks have elapsed – on March 15, almost 8 weeks from now. Can’t these authoritarians do a better job of being tyrannical with their citizens? It’s all curious. There’s a showcase and/or psyop element to all of this.

Germany has so far not followed through with the promised mandatory vax policy. The Czech Republic has just dropped its mandatory vax requirement under its new PM, Petr Fiala, replacing so-called ‘populist’ Babis, who introduced the vax requirement in the first place (the Czech Republic eagerly followed Austria at the start).  The UK has just dropped its Covid restrictions, yet Boris has still maintained the mandatory vax for healthcare workers. We’ll see how that fares as the NHS may be facing a huge staff shortage.

And the RT article below carefully avoids making the point that, while all the Covid measures haven’t worked in Austria, which has recently being seeing a surge in cases (allegedly), the VACCINES HAVEN’T WORKED, EITHER. Shame on you, RT.

UPDATE: Now it’s sheer desperation time – lottery tickets instead of imposing mandatory vax on February 1. See Austria Introduces COVID-19 Vaccination Lottery, Winners Get €500 In Vouchers

Of note:

The Austrian government announced a new vaccination stimulus package – including a lottery and financial rewards – in a bid to boost the national vaccination rate, The Local reported. The announcement was made at a press conference in Vienna with Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP), Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) and SPÖ leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner ahead of the vote on the mandatory vaccination law (Impfpflicht) in the National Council on Thursday.

“What is there to win in the vaccination lottery? Vouchers!” Chancellor Karl Nehammer told a news conference with the leader of the opposition Social Democrats, Pamela Rendi-Wagner, with whom the measure was negotiated, Reuters reported.

This is turning into a circus.

Austria makes Covid vaccines mandatory

The country’s parliament has made vaccination compulsory for all citizens, with those who resist facing fines of up to 3,600 euros ($4,000)

RT

An overwhelming majority of Austrian MPs voted on Thursday to force their citizens to get vaccinated against Covid-19, with those who refuse facing fines of up to 3,600 euros ($4,000).

After 137 MPs voted for compulsory vaccination and only 33 opposed, the bill now heads to the upper house to be debated and approved. As Austria’s governing parties – a coalition of the center-right People’s Party and the Greens – hold a majority in this chamber, its passage is virtually guaranteed.

The right-wing Freedom Party was the only party to oppose the mandate in parliament.

Set to come into effect on February 1, the bill will require every Austrian adult – except pregnant women or those exempt for medical reasons – to get vaccinated against Covid-19. Fines for those who refuse will start to be enforced from mid-March, and non-compliant citizens will eventually be hit with maximum fines of 3,600 euros ($4,000).

The law will empower authorities to keep a database of every citizen’s vaccination status and the expiry date of said status, which can be searched by officials. The law is to remain in place until 2024.

Compulsory vaccination was first proposed by the Austrian government back in November, and the announcement triggered mass protests. At the time, Austria had one of the lowest vaccination rates in Europe, which has since climbed to above the EU average. At present, just over 70% of Austrians are fully vaccinated, according to figures from the World Health Organization. (ER: Pinch of salt time.)

However, the demonstrations have continued, with thousands taking to the streets of Vienna last weekend to demand the law be scrapped. Further demonstrations are expected this weekend following its passage.

Austria has implemented a number of harsh measures since November in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus, yet none have apparently worked. Despite introducing a lockdown for the unvaccinated and a nationwide mask mandate – both enforced by police and harsh fines – Austria recorded more cases of Covid-19 on Thursday than at any point during the pandemic to date. Deaths, however, have fallen dramatically since December.

The mandate — first announced in November — will apply to Austrian residents aged 18 and older, with exemptions for pregnant women and people who cannot receive the vaccine on medical grounds. An earlier draft wanted to make vaccination compulsory from age 14.

The law takes effect on February 1 but police checks won’t be carried out until March 15. Unvaccinated people then face a penalty of around €600 and up to €3,600, Der Standard reported.

The government plans to set another deadline after March and send out reminders to the unvaccinated, who may then face another round of fines.

In total, those not complying with the mandate can be fined up to four times a year. A fine will be dropped if the recipient gets vaccinated within two weeks of receiving the penalty notice.

We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
