Rebecca Sounds Reveille Presents: Debra Childers, Feeding the Flock-San Diego

Have you ever come across someone and you can see such love in them? How long has it been? If it has been awhile or even if it has been recently- you have to see Debra Childers! Debra is shining example of a person filled with love, not only in her heart and words, but also in her actions. She is definitely “in action”. Once bedridden due to RSD, a chronic pain condition, she gives God the credit for what she is able to do now.
Debra, an Executive Chef, has overcome her many of her challenges with RSD and has utilized the strength from this in her outreach to mission. The mission keeps her “moving” and working full time without pay. She calls her ministry “Feeding the Flock-San Diego”. The ministry provides food and additional resources to those in need; however, the ministry is not limited to the homeless.
On this episode, Debra is accompanied by two influential people. By her side is her husband Jim Childers, who proudly displays his “Christian Brotherhood” ball cap and her pastor, Pastor Ben from “TK Church”, who keeps a ready supply of Bibles at hand to share God’s message of love. Watching and listening to these three are a delight! They exude a sense of peacefulness and love apparent by hearing how they not only love helping others, but also in their joy of watching the impact their outreach has.
Both “TK Church” and its’ ministry “Feeding the Flock-San Diego” have a vast amount of resources to connect people with things they may be in need of- from food, to SAFE houses, to God. Debra is currently working the process to connect” Feeding the Flock-San Diego” to communities through a major source. This source would be accessible by simply dialing 2-1-1 on any telephone.
By creating a simplified connection, those who are homeless or in need of food and those who don’t know where to turn for other solutions to life’s challenges can connect with someone who can assist right away. This is also a great opportunity for law enforcement officers and others in their community to assist those in need because they do not have to search for resources. The resources are as simple as picking up the phone and dialing the three digit 2-1-1 number.
“Feeding the Flock-San Diego” is involved with the San Diego Dream Center, East County Transitional Living Center, Mosaic Church (in the heart of what is known as “Tent City” a high population of the homeless in downtown San Diego), outreach events and ministries throughout San Diego County, worship services, prayer, discipleship, government assistant, mental health, and sobering programs, hot meals, clothing drives, and hygiene.
“Feeding the Flock-San Diego” is seeking more volunteers and donations to continue and expand their outreach.

She has also been an award winning radio show host and has produced, booked, and interviewed guests for her shows. Her education includes: Associates degrees in Christian Studies, General Education, General Business Management, and Law Enforcement. Rebecca also has a Bachelor’s degrees in Church Ministry and Occupational Studies -Vocational Arts, as well as a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies. She is a certified Mediator and Event Planner.
