“Breast cancer has a ribbon, but GYN Cancer has a rock band!” ~ Dr. Joanie Hope, No Evidence of Disease

By TLB Contributor & Talk Show Host: Leslie Carol Botha

Cancer Surgeons Become a Rock Band. Patients Become Fans. Music Can Change the Journey. Introducing the new documentary by Spark Media and award-winning director Andrea Kalin. No Evidence of Disease – is now being shown on your local Public Broadcast Station.

Did you know that tens of thousands of women are diagnosed every year with a GYN cancer. Nearly one in three will die. Every hour, approximately ten women are diagnosed with one of the five major below the belt cancers: cervical, ovarian, uterine (endometrial), vulvar and vaginal.

Survivors often say, ‘I didn’t know.’ What they didn’t know are the signs and symptoms of GYN cancers. That’s why Spark Media produced No Evidence of Disease and its companion piece, What Every Woman Should Know, a 16-minute multimedia guide to the signs and symptoms of all major GYN cancers. It features the N.E.D. doctors, survivors, N.E.D. music, graphics, and – most importantly – information you need to know.

NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE, the words every patient dreams to hear, interweaves the harrowing experiences and remarkable courage of women, devoted families, and dedicated doctors. As music and medicine join forces in the fight for life, the surgeons are transformed into rising rock stars, and their patients and loved ones jump on the bandwagon, infusing the struggle for survival with heart, hope and Rock ‘n’ Roll.

OB-GYN doctors epitomize the most intense experience in women’s lives – the birth of a child and death from cancer. These rockin’ doctors are on a mission to inform, educate, and prevent the cancers that scare women the most. Because no one’s life is left untouched by a woman’s cancer.
