The Foreshadowing of an Enslaved Society
What we may see or think of as an original thought or fairly new concept is in many cases not so, and is quite possibly a long term but buried memory triggered by recent events, finally bubbling to the surface in a cohesive state. It may even be a shared memory of a generation who on some instinctual or conscious level sees something is seriously wrong or out of place. In this case we are talking about an entire society, or humanity itself, being enslaved.
I have talked about perspective on many occasions, a unique perspective that those of us posses who have existed on this planet for about three generations or more. Our longevity has afforded us the privilege, or curse, of seeing the slow and methodical shifts in society only recognized over extended periods of time, that leaves us with feelings of discomfort and even foreboding, and many of us today feel the absolute need to sound the proverbial alarm.
I was recently sent a link to a short but mind grabbing video by a good friend and TLB Editorial Staff Director Ralph Ely, which I believe he did because he instinctively knew the reaction it would elicit from me … and he was correct! The clip presented below is from My Dinner with Andre. This is a film made in 1981, thirty five years ago starring Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn, written by Gregory and Shawn, and directed by Louis Malle.
The film is based on a conversation between Gregory and Shawn at the Café des Artistes. The film is centered mostly on philosophical conversation, and covers multiple topics including (and most important for this article) the nature of life, contrasting Shawn’s modest, down-to-earth humanism with Gregory’s unique and extravagant spiritual experiences.
The take away from this short clip titled A Higher Conscious Conversation is that … What we who today see and express as the possible impending disasters in humanities near future, was recognized at least several generations ago, and in amazing detail. Although the scenario surrounding these revelations (in the film clip) have accelerated over the last generation facilitating an ever increasing awakening within society, the concept and goals of those who perpetrate these actions is well beyond a century in age …
So does art imitate life?
Or does Life imitate art?
Is this yet another foreshadowing of a plan set in motion by those so arrogant they would telegraph their intentions with the smug belief that we have intentionally been made far too ignorant to see the truth, even when it is put right under our noses?
Is this in fact an intended warning of a future we may be destined for, and through our ignorance are helping to facilitate?
In any case a result favoring society depends solely on an awake and aware humanity in mass refusing to perish, or be transformed into a race of slaves meant only to do the bidding of their so called superior elitist masters.
The questions to be asked are … IS enough of humanity waking up to this reality to at least buffer us from an impending doom be it physical or sociological? Or has society been so propagandized and intellectually lobotomized that a vast majority will willingly walk off the proverbial cliff when instructed to do so?
This film clip does end on a relatively high note … but is this to be our path to our salvation? Or can we as a hopefully still somewhat vibrant and reasoning society, be even more creative by asserting our (the masses) will on what is to be our future …
