Leading Experts Believe Vaccinations Are Putting Our Pets At Risk!

Leading Experts Believe Vaccinations Are Putting Our Pets At Risk!

By TLB Contributing Partner: Christina England, BA, Hons

As an owner of seven foreign rescue dogs, I have been looking into why it is that the majority of them suffer from joint disease.

Until recently, I had attributed their problems to severe malnutrition.

However, when a friend of mine passed me an article, by Dana Scott, I began to consider the possibility that multiple vaccinations, including the rabies vaccination, may have also been a contributing factor.

Pets Vaccinations and Joint Disorders in Dogs

According to reports, for the first time ever, vets are beginning to question whether multiple vaccinations are to blame for the rise in the number of dogs, needing veterinary treatment for their joints.

In the past, vets had attributed the rise in the number of dogs with joint disorders to poor breeding and genetics. However, according to Dogs Naturally Magazine in 2021, views surrounding this issue began to change in the mid to late 1950’s.

In her article, Dana Scott, wrote:

Hip dysplasia was first diagnosed in dogs in 1935 but nobody seemed interested at the time.

Over twenty years later, the number of dogs presenting with this disease was on the rise. This prompted the Swedish Kennel Club to develop a program focused on hip dysplasia.

The goal of this program was to radiograph the hips of German Shephard breeding stock. Once they knew which dogs had healthy hips, only those dogs would be bred …. and hip dysplasia would be eliminated.”

According to Scott, researchers were in for a surprise. She continued:

But after ten years of selective breeding … the incidence of moderate and severe cases of hip dysplasia didn’t change.

Dogs without radiographic evidence of hip dysplasia were still producing puppies with dysplasia. In fact, in one study, over two thirds of dysplastic puppies were from normal parents.”

Their findings, prompted researchers to explore other possible explanations and they concluded that, hip dysplasia was a polygenic disease, meaning that it was the combined action of more than one gene.

Scott stated that:

Sadly, hip dysplasia isn’t the only common joint disorder in dogs. It is also becoming more common to see …

  • Cranial cruciate tears

  • Luxating patellas *

  • Elbow dysplasia *

In the midst of this, the vets point their fingers at both breeders and purebred dogs. The breeders then point their fingers at the pet owners and at each other …

. Surely somebody must be to blame?”

This outcome once again prompted researchers to delve a little deeper into what was causing the problem.

Scott wrote that:

Just because a dog has the gene for hip dysplasia however, does not mean he will be affected. The disease severity will be directly influenced by the dog’s environmental factors.

Unfortunately, we don’t know which dogs possess and produce the genes that cause joint disease … But as dog owners we can change the environmental stressors.

To this point, vets and many breeders will pay lip service to things like:

  • Keeping puppies lean

  • Not feeding them too much protein (a myth that is not proven)

  • Giving them a number of supplements.’’

Scott continued that:

Puppy buyers usually get this well-rehearsed speech at their first vaccine appointment. Most vets are ready to step in with surgery if they see a large breed puppy with dysplasia.

The same vets usually blame the breeders and their purebred dogs for joint issues. But they also inject these healthy puppies with vaccines that have consequence too”

She asked:

Is it any coincidence that even severe cases of hip dysplasia are not seen before eight weeks of age … the age at which most puppies are vaccinated?

Why are vets recommending expensive hip surgeries and multiple, unnecessary vaccines?

Are they oblivious to what should be obvious?

Why is nobody blaming the vaccines when there are plenty of reasons to do so?”

These are excellent questions, which are sadly, yet to be answered.

Scott continued that:

In 1997, The Canine Health Concern ran a study based on 4,000 dogs. They discovered that a higher percentage of the dogs developed mobility problems, shortly after vaccinations.”

If Scott is correct, then it appears that, The Canine Health Concern were not alone because according to immunologist Dr. Jean Dodds, a leading vet for five decades and expert on the subject:

Beyond the immediate hypersensitivity (vaccine) reactions, other acute events tend to occur 24 to 72 hours afterward, or 7 to 45 days later in a delayed type immunological response. Even more delayed adverse effects include…canine distemper antibodies in joint diseases of dogs.”

According to Scott, The Veterinary Products Committee (VPC) Working Group on Feline and Canine Vaccination recorded similar discoveries.

She wrote:

Occasional self-limiting cases of immune-based arthritis in dogs have been reported usually following primary vaccination, and recently, four young adult dogs of different breeds have been reported to develop an idiopathic polyarthritis three to 15 days after multivalent vaccination. Immune-mediated polyarthritis and systemic disease including amyloidosis has been reported in Akita dogs following modified live vaccination. Hypertrophic osteodystrophy (HOD), in some cases associated with juvenile cellulitis, has been reported following vaccination, mainly in Weimaraners, and it has been suggested that canine distemper virus may be involved. There is also some evidence that canine distemper virus (and possibly vaccines) may be involved in canine rheumatoid-like arthritis through the formation of immune complexes”.

The Risks and Benefits of Vaccinating Dogs and Cats Outlined by VPC

Please note: SARs = Suspected Adverse Reactions

I decided that I would read their detailed report myself, to discover exactly what other information they had outlined.

Although the VPC was very careful to outline the benefits of vaccination, they did reveal some very interesting information in regards to pet vaccination, in general.

In Point 7

They wrote that:

“… In dogs, there was a higher proportion of the Toy, and to a lesser extent, the Utility breed groups in the vaccine SARs compared to non-vaccine SARs (Table 7) (Appendix 1e). Comparison of the age distributions in both cats and dogs showed a higher proportion of 0-6 month old animals in the vaccine SARs compared to non-vaccine SARs and proportionately fewer animals over the age of one year (Table 8) (Appendix 1f). Data on the proportion of vaccines used in a primary course as opposed to boosters supported the observation that young animals may be over-represented with respect to vaccine SARs.”

Although, this particular article was predominantly discussing vaccination in relation to dogs. I did find this particular paragraph in relation to cats, to be somewhat alarming and it is for that reason that I decided to take a screenshot.

In section 1.3 of their report, they also wrote the following: (Screenshot 2)

So are Pet Vaccinations as Safe as we Have Been Led to Believe?

According to leading expert, Dr. Jean Dodds no they are not. In fact, she believes that many of our vets are using vaccinations as a hook, to reel patients in, on a regular basis.

She firmly believes that, vaccination does not necessarily = immunization.

In one interview, Dr Jean stated that, she believes in #TestBeforeYouTreat. She says that Titre tests, pick up the serological immunity that your dog has developed against the core diseases: Parvo, Distemper and Hepatitis, and helps pet guardians manage their dog’s immunisation rather than over vaccinate.

She continued by explaining that, over vaccinating our pets can be extremely dangerous because many pet vaccinations contain heavy metals, such as mercury and aluminium, as an adjuvant, much the same as human vaccinations do.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
