Welcome back everyone, to another installment of LEARN 2 UNLEARN! Great to be with you, and so lucky to have POWER these days, with this WEATHER we are having, wreaking havoc everywhere, but we always look on the bright side, and perhaps have a Plan B prepared?
This entire show will revolve around Rick (Annie’s Husband) and the Honor of his Memory, as I prepare yet a different way of expressing my appreciation for who Rick was as a musician, a husband, and what he gave us all… He will never be forgotten. This year marks seven years of his passing.
Through PERSPECTIVES, in which Steve, our Producer, sees a completely ‘different’ image than I do, we speak of both, then move onto NEWS*FLASH! in which my chosen slides-of-the-week are revealed to share my stories and ideas…
From a clip of ‘Baby’ Bush goofing up on the name of a country (who cares, whatever) to Nixon and his good buddy the reverand, via Cathy O’Brien, a riveting portrayal of what MK-ULTRA looks like, and what our CIA is always up to… passing by Martin Luther King Jr. and his ‘record’… It is important to speak of ‘everything’…
In COMPARISONS, I was able to pinpoint, through an eyebrow-raising clip from an International Lawyer, the first of two that I will share, the ‘similarities‘ between what Israel has been doing to Palestine for the past 75 years, and what America has done to its own Indigenous people…
And as I listened to Lara Elborno speak, I was raising my hand, as if to say “Hey, hang on a minute…” at almost everything she would say, as I could see a direct comparison to the way ‘we’, the Indigenous of this land, were treated for over 500 years now. It’s as if it had been painted by the same brush…
In a moving segment, mostly for me while doing it, I try to be as honest as I possibly can about being an EMPATH (also speaking for Shakeandwakeradio’s Annie and Rick) and dealing with ANGER and other potentially-destructive attitudes that we can so easily develop these days if we are not aware… and we are then reminded of Tolstoy‘s words of wisdom.
As we enter THE MUSIC SEGMENT and leave all of that behind, we start to breathe easier and feel as though we deserve a break full of good musical ideas… And so today, I offer you two thoughts.
The KISS formula, and no, it does not mean what I grew up with, Keep It Simple Stupid, … no…
It means Keep It Steady and Simple 🙂 and it works wonders, as I do my best to explain WHY…
Then, I treat everyone with the song that was never played in its entirety two weeks ago, that everyone seemed to love as much as me, as I end the show with Papa Roach, and his powerhouse version of
(I’ll) Leave a Light On (for you) …
A song not only written to help bring attention to the problem of suicide, but in my case, it tells everyone that no matter what, knowing how hard this life is for all of us, and having an open heart,
I will ALWAYS be there for you, and leave a light on for you… ALWAYS.
