US Customs and Border Protection office closes all border crossings at the largest US-Mexico checkpoint after hundreds rushed towards the border at San Ysidro.

Hundreds of illegal immigrants have tried to storm the US border from Mexico this evening.

All border crossings have been halted at the largest US-Mexico checkpoint in the city of Tijuana after hundreds rushed towards the border line.

Video has emerged showing people running across a concrete no-man’s land up a ridge towards the barbed wire fences of the US border line.

A few carrying flags, they traverse a low level of water as chaos ensures – while people video the migrants from a high vantage point.

The US Border Patrol launched tear gas into Mexico, with the breeze carrying it hundreds of yards…

The crowds are reportedly made up of men, women and a lot of children who collectively overwhelmed federal and local Mexican police blockades.

As the regular border crossings were closed, the migrants headed for the cargo area where the railroad crosses, getting to within metres of the US border wall.

The US Border Patrol said it has deployed extra personnel to the border crossing due to multiple planned demonstrations on both sides of the border in support of the migrant caravan.

A spokesman said: “The additional personnel, which included CBP officers, US Border Patrol agents, and Air and Marine agents, were recently deployed to the San Diego area from various areas around the country in preparation for the potential arrival of the caravan in Tijuana.”

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our main websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
