Sheriff David Clarke in final stretch for White House post … so what’s holding it up?

If you’re a criminal, you do not want to face off against Sheriff David Clarke.

Clarke, currently the sheriff of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, is being considered by President Trump for the position of assistant secretary to the Department of Homeland Security‘s Partnership and Engagement unit. Job duties include coordinating outreach between law enforcement and tribal officials.

The job does not require Senate confirmation, but an appointment could take more than a month. “It wouldn’t be for a while,” a source told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Nothing’s imminent.” Insiders said the Trump administration recently completed a background check on Clarke.

If chosen, Sheriff Clarke would start the DHS job right away. It’s a good fit for the tough-talking former patrol commander who was appointed sheriff in 2002.

During the presidential election, Sheriff Clarke — who was once a registered Democrat — made headlines after voicing his support for Donald Trump. Clarke even spoke at the Republican National Convention last summer, where he slammed the militant, anti-police Black Lives Matter as “a terrorist movement and a hate group.”

Clarke also endorsed Trump, saying he’s the law-and-order candidate the country needs: “Donald Trump is the steadfast leader our nation needs.”

Politico reported the possible hiccups in the appointment of Clarke, as critics call him a “celebrity Sheriff” for his outspoken appearances in the media.

He has come under fire in recent days amid revelations about the case of Terrill Thomas, who died of dehydration last year at the Milwaukee County Jail after guards turned off the water in his cell.

… Clarke also has faced criticism for participating in a National Rifle Association-backed trip to Russia in 2015, where he and other members of the group’s delegation reportedly met with Dmitry Rogozin, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s deputies. Rogozin was sanctioned by the U.S. government in 2014.

President Trump has praised Sheriff David Clarke as a patriot and a leader with backbone. On Friday, Clarke spoke at the NRA Convention, where he bashed leftists who continue to riot and protest against Trump, saying they will continue to sow division and anarchy.

“You see, our fight for freedom continues in earnest,” Clarke said. “You see, these rat b*stards on the left never give up. Election defeats don’t matter to them. [They will continue] their assault on our Constitution, the rule of law, liberty and American exceptionalism.”

  1. We find it interesting that in every country that has gun control Tyranny is the order of the day. Gun ownership in America is the only thing standing in the way of the Global Elites taking over and making the U.S. another 3rd World Country.

  2. Sheriff David Clarke, an NRA spokesman and supporter could realize his adolescent fantasy of playing Wyatt Earp as more and more open carry cronies flood the nation. Of course shoot-from-the-hips Donald Trump, another supporter and advocate of NRA’s no gun-control, would fawn over this anomaly of a black American.
