Stacey Abrams In Texas: “We Are In A State Of Crisis”, GOP “Erasing Democracy”

KAREN TOWNSEND

Stacey Abrams continued her national “I won” tour Friday in Houston. She was a featured speaker during an annual fundraising luncheon for Annie’s List in Houston. Like many prominent Democrats, she is hopeful that Texas will go blue in 2020. Abrams has been a regular visitor to Texas since her defeat in Georgia’s gubernatorial race in 2018. She lost that race by 55,000 votes but she wants everyone to know she won.

Abrams taunts Republicans with a mixed message as they correctly point out that she didn’t win the election and is not currently the Governor of Georgia. She insists she won and she isn’t delusional about it. I would argue that her speeches since her defeat prove otherwise.

“I’m here to tell you a secret that makes Breitbart and Tucker Carlson go crazy: We won,” Abrams said. “I am not delusional. I know I am not the governor of Georgia – possibly yet.”

Stacey Abrams was in a very friendly environment as she launched into a tirade against the current Governor of Georgia, her opponent Brian Kemp. She called him a “cartoon villain” as she insisted that “we are in a state of crisis.”

“We are in a state of crisis,” Abrams told a crowd of largely female Democrats at the annual Houston fundraiser hosted by Annie’s List, a group that seeks to elect progressive women to state and county office in Texas.“They are trying to erase our democracy, corrode it so much so that we stop believing in it. Because they know that that’s the only way to hold onto the power they have.”

The top priority of Annie’s List is to recruit Democrat women to run for elected office. In order to receive the endorsement of Annie’s List, along with financial support, the candidate must be pro-abortion. There is no exception to that rule. So, given the current position among many Democrats that infanticide is acceptable up to the moment of birth, it’s a bit rich to hear any Democrat, including Stacey Abrams, describe a Republican as evil.

Abrams is suffering from a severe case of sour grapes. Her excuse for her loss is voter suppression. She promotes that narrative in every speech and interview. What else could possibly explain her defeat? She had the endorsement of Oprah, you know. Like Hillary Clinton in 2016, Stacey Abrams believed her own publicity. She felt entitled to the office.

Earlier in the week, Abrams announced her decision to not run for a Senate seat in 2020. She has a book to sell and she’s the toast of Democrat circles for now. In the speech Friday she teased that there may be a gubernatorial run in her future. I think that will depend on if she’s able to hold the attention of Democrats until that date in the future. Her rising star may very well extinguish before the opportunity returns. In the meantime, she’s milking victimhood for all it’s worth, like Hillary.

Abrams insists that an organized effort to suppress votes occurred in Georgia and Brian Kemp was at the helm. There were long lines and low numbers of provisional ballots, you see. That never happens in elections, right? Oh boy. It couldn’t possibly have been an increase in voter turn-out, right?

She touts the enthusiasm of Democrat voters in Georgia during the last election and the increase in the African-American turn-out yet continues to insist that there was voter suppression. Her assertion just doesn’t ring true. It’s a bit rich that she blames her defeat on others and not herself. Candidates fail to win when they can’t get out the vote. Her loss by 55,000 votes means her campaign failed to get that many voters to the polls. In state and local elections, victory depends on vote counts. It’s really that simple. Nevermind common sense, though, Abrams warned Texans that “a community of people” are stripping away voter rights and “our humanity”. Yikes!

“We had an architect of voter suppression that spent the last eight years knitting together a system of voter suppression that is unparalleled in America,” Abrams said. “And he had the unfortunate circumstance of running against me for governor.”

Transitioning to Texas, Abrams told the crowd at the Hilton Post Oak hotel that Democrats would face similar challenges in 2020 across southern states, including here. She framed the alleged voter suppression efforts as evidence, however, that Democrats are on the verge of flipping states such as Texas.

“I’ve never seen a community of people work so hard to strip away our rights and our humanity as fast as they can,” she said.

That’s a dark view of the American landscape. She explained that candidates don’t have to concede elections anymore. I guess that’s why she keeps saying she won.

.@staceyabrams giving defiant speech to @AnniesListTX, saying she won’t be a “good sport” & go away quietly after election in which she was wronged. “We don’t have to concede elections anymore, b/c when we concede, we are condoning systems that are used to oppress us,” she says.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
