Recent US Air-Strikes in Syria & Russian Anger

We Are Living In Very Dangerous Times!
The entire world is watching and aware of so much more than the American people are …
The recent attack via air-strikes by US air contingents on a Syrian government military position violates two existing agreements in place. In February of this year the US and Russia agreed to The cessation of hostilities (recently reaffirmed), and a promise made by the US government to the Syrian government (two years ago) that any air-strikes conducted would not effect the position of the Syrian armed forces.
The recent air-strike clearly violates both agreements.
The biggest issue here is that the recent air-strikes are seen by the world (and rightfully so) as an attempt by the west (US, NATO and Israel) to support the invading terrorist ISIS/Al-Qaeda forces in Syria, to the detriment of the Sovereign Syrian government. This makes these incursions into sovereign Syria airspace Immoral and Illegal.
The eminent danger here is the two global superpowers squaring off against each other. The US bombs the Syrian military outpost killing sixty and wounding at least one hundred more, allowing the terrorist forces to advance, Then an Angry Russia swoops in soon after seeing what has transpired, and conducts its own air-strikes against the advancing ISIS/Al-Qaeda/Al-Nusra forces to negate the US actions.
And this insanity perpetuates and escalates …
Question: How long will it be before the US and Russian air forces meet in the same air space, at the same time, with what seems to be diametrically opposing goals? Russia is an ally of the Syrian Government and is there by invitation. The US and its partners are not! So what happens next? Is this the preeminent catalyst for World War III? What we are looking at is a huge powder keg ready to explode, and the US and its allies/partners are holding a lit match dangerously close to the wick!
My next question is to the American general public: Why is it that the rest of the world is looking on with awareness, shock, and fear, as two superpowers (US & Russian military) go head to head in what can only be described as a catastrophe in the making, while the American public are denied the truth or even the real-time news, and sit back seemingly content in their ignorance?
Today the US and Russian forces are closer to sparking World War III than we ever were since the hight of the cold war, and most Americans seem oblivious of this reality.
… and that slippery slope gets slipperier by the day!

Russia Condemns Obama’s Decision to Conduct Illegal Air Strikes against Syrian Forces, Washington’s Objective was to Protect ISIS Terrorists
“It is highly suspicious that the United States chose to conduct this particular air strike at this time,” Russia’s ambassador Vitaly Churkin said.
