ER Editor: Well, this sounds like ‘if you can’t be sure of sucking up taxpayer money with a covid vaccine, let the flu vaccine do the job’.
With uncertainty still surrounding the rollout of a coronavirus vaccine by the fall, the UK govt is planning to double its ‘free’ flu vaccine output from 15 million shots to 30 million during the upcoming winter. Why? To MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF CORONAVIRUS / COVID-19 INFECTION. Mitigate … meaning to render the viral infection less severe.
Don’t these highly-paid health officials ever read peer-reviewed research?
Recall the recent US military warning that a ‘flu shot leaves the recipient more susceptible to a non-flu viral respiratory infection (which is what COVID-19 is supposed to be) – by up to 36% no less. The link to this study is here: Influenza vaccination and respiratory virus interference among Department of Defense personnel during the 2017–2018 influenza season. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at Children’s Health Defense explains the problem thus:
In searching the literature, the only study we have been able to find assessing flu shots and coronavirus is a 2020 US Pentagon study that found that the flu shot INCREASES the risks from coronavirus by 36%. “Receiving influenza vaccination may increase the risk of other respiratory viruses, a phenomenon known as “virus interference…’vaccine derived’ virus interference was significantly associated with coronavirus…” Here are the findings:
2020 Pentagon study: Flu vaccines increase risk of coronavirus by 36%
Examining non-influenza viruses specifically, the odds of coronavirus in vaccinated individuals were significantly higher when compared to unvaccinated individuals with an odds ratio (association between an exposure and an outcome) of 1.36. In other words, the vaccinated were 36% more likely to get coronavirus.
Kennedy’s article references other studies that reveal the same relationship of susceptibility between non-flu respiratory viral infections and flu shots. We recommend reading his succinct article in its entirety, but we’ll list those independent studies here:
- 2018 CDC Study: Flu shots increase risk of non-flu acute respiratory illnesses (ARI) in children.
- 2011 Australian Study: Flu shot doubled risk of non-influenza viral infections and increased flu risk by 73%.
- 2012 Hong Kong Study: Flu shots increased the risk of non-flu respiratory infections 4.4 times and tripled flu infections.
- 2017 Study: Vaccinated children are 5.9 more likely to suffer pneumonia and 30.1 times more likely to have been diagnosed with Allergic Rhinitis than unvaccinated children.
- 2014 Study: Influenza-vaccinated children were 1.6 times more likely than unvaccinated children to have a non-influenza “Influenza-like-illness” (ILI).
UK announces ‘most comprehensive flu program in history,’ aims to vaccinate 30mn
The hope is to vaccinate 30 million people during the upcoming flu season, in an effort to mitigate the effects of a potential resurgence of coronavirus, the government has announced.
The flu shot program will, for the first time, include all people over the age of 50, as well as children in their first year of secondary school. In previous years, the shot was offered for free to anyone over the age of 65, as well as young children, pregnant women, and people with serious underlying health conditions. However, the government is prioritizing those who are seen as most at risk.
UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock described the health initiative as “the biggest flu vaccine program in history.” According to Public Health England, some 15 million doses of the flu vaccine were administered in 2019-2020.
Health experts are concerned that there could be a second spike of coronavirus cases in winter, which would coincide with the start of the flu season. Hancock argued that increasing the number of flu vaccinations would help the NHS cope with a potential surge in Covid-19 cases.
“This winter more than ever, with Covid-19 still circulating, we need to help reduce all avoidable risks,” said Chris Whitty, the nation’s chief medical adviser.
The initiative comes as nations around the world scramble to develop an effective vaccine for coronavirus. However, the UK’s Vaccine Taskforce cautioned earlier this week that a successful immunization program against the illness is far from certain.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
