When Did We Become As a Nation … What We Railed Against Most?

Most of us (babyboomers) grew up hating or fearing Communism, centralized rule, and we railed as individuals, and as a nation united against the old Soviet Union (USSR), and rightfully so because their global and domestic policies, imperialistic mannerisms, and authoritarian ideologies went forcefully against the grain of everything America represented.

So why did I title this article When Did We Become As a Nation … What We Railed Against Most? … Here are just a few more obvious reasons why …

The Soviet Union (USSR) Politburo made many laws that were counter to the benefit of their population, but advantageous to the ruling body and their continued power …

We railed against that.

Yet today in America, a vast majority of the laws passed by our Congress, or by Executive Order, benefit only those who pull the strings of power, enhancing both their wealth and power base.

The Soviet Union (USSR) restricted movement within its boarders, and travel (denied a passport) outside of its borders to keep dissidents or citizens of a different political mindset localized and under control, or from fleeing the country …

We railed against that.

Yet today in America, if you speak out against this government (first amendment right), you are branded a Domestic Terrorist, and denied a passport to leave the country, or put on a No Fly List restricting your movement making you easier to localize and control.

The Soviet Union (USSR) employed massive internal military and paramilitary (police) forces to intimidate and control their population …

We railed against that.

Yet today in America, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employs over 200,000 civilian and paramilitary (constituting an illegal domestic standing army), making it one of the largest departments in this government. Add to this a massive ongoing program to federalize and militarize all local police forces, to bring them under strict federal government control.

The Soviet Union (USSR) exercised the power to assassinate any citizen who they felt threatened the state. or spoke out against the state, without warning or a trial …

We railed against that.

Yet today in America, this government (via executive order) reserves the authority to assassinate American citizens who they feel are a danger or threat, without warning or Constitutionally Guaranteed Due Process.

The Soviet Union (USSR) dragged citizens from their homes in the dark of night and locked them away with no trial, never to be heard from again …

We railed against that.

Yet today in America, citizens under the NDAA can legally be dragged from their homes in the dark of night and locked away with no Constitutionally Guaranteed Due Process, never to be heard from again.

The Soviet Union (USSR) secretly spied on every aspect of their citizens lives and built files on everyone without any consideration of guilt, freedom or privacy …

We railed against that.

Yet today in America, via the Patriot Act, citizens are secretly spied on in every aspect of their lives and files are accumulated on anyone without any consideration of guilt, freedom or privacy (including members of Congress).

The Soviet Union (USSR) isolated specific pockets of undesirable citizens and let them starve to death …

We railed against that.

Yet today in America, over ten million people are on the street homeless and starving with no government safety net, and many municipalities have made it a crime to feed them.

The Soviet Union (USSR) utilized its massive military superiority to invade and occupy weaker sovereign nations to pacify and control them politically …

We railed against that.

Yet today in America, this government is responsible for the invasion, occupation, or cross border excursions into countless weaker sovereign nations, to pacify and control them politically and economically.

Etc…

Before you push back against this … please show how it is wrong, then kindly tell me …

“When did we become what we hated most … ???”

My Parting Shot: When many small … almost insignificant changes are made over extended time (time has a completely different meaning for those who would play God with humanity) … and hidden from a propagandized people, the eventual result is a rude awakening to a reality quite different from what existed when they went to sleep (became programmed). We The People have allowed all we suffer through our apathy, complacency and misplaced trust … This is not a guess, it is a blatant and sad truth.

So today as Americans we suffer much of what we once railed against … and it will only get worse! Please wake up and realize the only force that is capable of turning back the clock on the rapidly rising level of tyranny we have ‘allowed’ is WE THE PEOPLE. Stand together and speak in a unified voice … or acquiesce this Republic to perpetual Tyranny !!!
