KEN’S CORNER: Abortions Behind a White Curtain

KEN’S CORNER: Abortions Behind a White Curtain

By TLB Contributing Writer: Ken LaRive

The morning sun broke through a golden-swirled mist, new spring leaves, and the Parish blue of an original and perfect day rose up in wonder. A rainstorm-washed breeze, chilled by convection and condensation, filled my lungs with the scents of new life and earth’s amazing bounty.

I lay back comfortably on my veranda settee, and as Maddy handed me a freshly zapped cup of aromatic coffee, she kissed me on the top of my head. Her gentle smile glowed fair as a ray of sunlight back-lit her hair, and after all of these years, I am still so very much in love. What price would I pay for an hour such as this?

Our new rescued kitten curled up between us, and we both glanced at each other knowingly. In just a few days it had gone from homeless to finding refuge, quickly adapting. It purred contently, watching a dazzling clash of blue-jay and Cardinal in our gum tree, dueling for a portion of my yard. Both had been preening and courting all week, but now they wanted a place to build a nest. Two doves watched them from a perch just a few feet from us, and seemed to wonder at the bother. Last year they built their nest with just a few bits of grass directly on the top of my kitchen window sill, high, dry and secure under our copper awning. What amazing beauty is our world?

On the floor, wedged behind a potted plant and the rail, I could see a grapefruit. The grand-kids, no doubt. And I remembered Maddy playing bowling with them on the living room  floor last weekend, using a grapefruit and paper cups. Sounds so simple, but I still remember the laughter. There is nothing like a child’s laughter to fill your heart, and I smiled to myself. How on earth could that grapefruit have made it all the way from the living room to here?

What an amazing gift is life, and as I look back over this morning, I can see my life stretched before me…

I ask you, what would you give for an hour of it? Just one hour? Everything you own? And why is that? How precious is just an hour of your time, even while sitting on the interstate, for instance, waiting for the police to clear a wreck? Indeed, is that lost time? Do you value that moment, that segment you consider possibly stolen from you? What is an hour to you as you jam on music, cursing at the delay? And then, what is an hour worth as you slowly drive by and see the crushed car draped in a white curtain as bodies are extracted. A white curtain on fixed tripods, designed for the privacy of death, …erected for your timid sensibilities.

So precious, life is so amazingly precious, that not one rescue-worker even notices the Louis Vuitton purse sitting on the ground in a bed of reflector plastic. Do you feel a slight shiver, a small sliver of ice down your spine when you realize the gravity of the moment you are observing was just three minutes away at your speed. But then, were you able to take that experience with you, learn from it, or was the true impact of that moment hidden from view? A curtain, that hid the lesson. But what you do remember, in retrospect, was the Louis Vuitton purse.

“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

Prior to the SCOTUS overturn of Roe vs Wade, each and every day here in America, a little less than 3,000 babies were aborted (new figures are not yet available). Three thousand lives cut short as a forceps pulls at a struggling fetus arm or leg, a perfect human being in miniature, to a suction nozzle designed to crush a skull and then suck its pulverized brains into a tube. A human brain, a marvel beyond all comparison on Earth, and in an instant, 95 years of life is gone. What is the price of that life? Twelve hundred dollars, as it is sold for stem-cell research.

It is difficult to wrap your mind around such a number, 3000 per day, 185,000 last year, and 56 million since Roe vs Wade in 1973. Planned Parenthood accounted for 6, 373,756 since 1970, with 52, 189 last year alone, and 9,804 abortions were performed after 16 week gestation. Since 1980, World Wide, there has been 1,286,166,499, abortions, about 100,000 per day, according to the World Health Organization. And why is there a counter for after 16 weeks?

There is a lot of argument about “When does life begin?” It would seem to be pretty hard for anyone to argue that a baby at 16 weeks gestation “is just a blob of tissue” based on what the scientific community knows today about the development of a baby at 16 weeks:

– The body is fully formed, the fingers and toes have fingerprints & nails. – Is about 5 inches long and weighs  about 3 ounces.

– The baby is moving about: may grasp for the umbilical cord, suck it’s thumb, and  make facial expressions.

– The heart & circulatory system and the urinary tract are fully functioning. and the blood is pumping through these tiny veins.

– The baby is inhaling and exhaling the amniotic fluid through the lungs.

-The eyes are in the proper position, and the baby can see straight ahead & blink his/her eyelids.

– The genitals have formed. In the case of a girl, the uterus has already developed and the ovaries are in the proper place.

And I ask myself, …what is an hour of life worth? And what of a lifetime? What of a billion lifetimes? It is unarguable that an abortion is a conspiracy between a doctor and a woman, what other can it be called? A seemingly desperate woman, and a hungry disconnected doctor, and they consent to perform it.  One for money, the other, most often, out of selfishness, and both separated by a curtain. A white curtain on fixed tripods, designed for the privacy of death, …for your timid sensibilities. Perhaps, just a thought, but maybe we should remove the curtain?

Author’s note: Can it be so simple that abortion is done for convenience, for birth control? …or is it the price a fetus will bring for stem cell research, and the government grants and stock options at stake?

As we look deep into a black box of a world gone crazy by ignorance, evil, and greed, a world we view from above in condescension and apathy, there is a nether world, just beyond the curtain, within arm’s reach, where the blood of innocence is spilled each and every day, and you are responsible. Surely, we can blame the corporation. It is an ingenious device used to obtain profit at the expense of individual responsibility. But as the killing is paid by you, with your tax dollars, shouldn’t the burden of responsibility rest soundly on you as well? You see, from a moral perspective, so lost in this equation, an abortion is but an echo of your silence, your complacency, and in the halls of eternity and your soul, it is as deafening as the silent screams of a child in amniotic fluid, as they are torn limb from limb.

From the Author, Ken La Rive – We in the Liberty movement have been fighting to take back this country for less than a decade, peacefully and with the love of God and country in our hearts. Our banner has been trampled on and displaced by a multitude of distractions, further eroding our nation and the cause for Liberty. And so, as we are pulled by forces we cannot fathom, powerful entities with unlimited resources stolen from our future, unaccountable trillions printed out of thin air and put on our backs as debt, we must formulate the most pitiful of all questions any patriot might ask in the final hour: Are we going to fight for our master’s tyranny, or are we going to demand the return of our civil liberties and Constitution? Are we going to choose The Banner of Liberty, or the shackles of voluntary servitude? Will it be a war for corporate profit, or a war to regain our ability to self govern, as the blood and toil of our forefathers presented to us, their children, as a gift? I fear that decision is emanate. I fear that any decision will be a hard one, but my greatest fear of all is that the decision has already been made for us.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
