Anti-government activist Ammon Bundy is running for Idaho governor, according to several news reports.

The 45-year-old Bundy on Friday filed paperwork with the state, according to the Idaho Statesman newspaper.

The paperwork will allow him to collect donations for a gubernatorial campaign in an already crowed Republican field that includes Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin.

Gop Gov. Brad Little has not officially announced a reelection bid.

Bundy has a long history of activism including his opposition to government-imposed COVID-19 health-safety restrictions that he considered overbearing. And just last month, incidents at the Idaho statehouse resulted in two misdemeanor trespassing charges.

Last August, he was barred from the capitol grounds for one year and prohibited from coming to the public areas of the building. Bundy is perhaps most well known for the 2016 armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon that resulted in the death of one his cohorts, the newspaper also reports.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)

5 Comments on Anti-government activist Ammon Bundy joins Idaho governor’s race

  1. Yes, Jan Craig! you are exactly right!
Bundy is anti-tyrannical gov’t, it seems to me.
BUT – in fairness to the beacon, seems this article is from justthenews, by John Solomon… who I respect > but, he should know better than to write anti gov….

  2. “anti-government activist”. No. A pro liberty activist. Government overreach is the problem. The FBI murdered Robert “LaVoy” Finicum. I have had a lib tell me he is a “white supremacist” because he was at an anti-lockdown demonstration. Idaho seems like an odd place for a white supremacist.

  3. The Headline was created by Just the News. We do not censor article content. Bundy is Anti-Gov when it comes to matters of our leaders pushing Liberal Ideas and Programs. Most know Bundy is a Patriot and a Conservative. The Liberty Beacon has covered The Bundys for a good long time.

  4. Ammon is not anti-government!!! Smear verbage…shame on you Liberty Beacon. Ammon is for law and order/government that is Constitutional, as we all should be.
