Biden made false statements during Afghanistan troop-withdrawal announcement

President Joe Biden inaccurately stated that he supported the 2011 raid that killed Osama bin Laden during a Wednesday speech in which he vowed to remove all American troops from Afghanistan by Sept. 11, 2021, The Daily Caller reported.

“I said, along with many others, we would follow Osama bin Laden to the Gates of Hell if need be and that is exactly what we did. We got him,” Biden said Wednesday.

However, Sen. John McCain was actually the one who said that he would follow bin Laden to the “Gates of Hell.”

“I want to look you in the eye today my friends and say that if I have to follow him to the Gates of Hell, I will get Osama bin Laden. I will bring him to justice,” McCain said to a group of voters during a 2008 Republican presidential primary speech.

While then-President Barack Obama supported the operation against Bin Laden, Biden advised Obama to wait.

“Mr. President, my suggestion is, don’t go. We have to do two more things to see if he’s there,” then-Vice President Biden recalled telling then-President Obama in 2012.

“Joe weighed in against the raid,” Obama wrote in his memoir, “A Promised Land.”

During the 2020 presidential election, Republican ads claimed Biden opposed taking Bin Laden out altogether.

Bin Laden was killed on May 1, 2011 by Navy Seals who found him at the 9/11 mastermind’s Abottabad compound.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
