For lovers of organic, a Hillary Clinton presidency will be a disaster because as is well-documented, the woman has long financial ties to the biggest threat to clean food on the planet: Monsanto, the world’s biggest producer of genetically modified poison.
As a long-time backer of GMOs and Monsanto, that should make anyone who is serious about protecting the environment question her loyalties and judgment. Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide is the most widely used in the world, and one of the most controversial .
In fact, one of the most environmentally hazardous substances used in modern agriculture today is glyphosate, the primary ingredient in Roundup. So, to put the relationship Clinton has with Monsanto in perspective, you need to understand just how dangerous it – and her continued approval of its use – really is for you and your loved ones.
How dangerous? Glyphosate has been shown to “probably” cause cancer, and in fact has been linked to brain cancer in children, according to a recent finding.
In addition, research has shown that GMO “Frankenfoods” have been found to several other conditions and diseases such as birth defects, infertility, miscarriages, breast cancer and tumors.
And yet this is a company – and an agricultural system – Clinton, who claims to be an environmentalist and champion of “women’s issues,” supports. How much so?
Monsanto and Clinton are so intertwined she has been dubbed the “Bride of Frankenfoods” by agriculture experts in the field of glyphosate damage.
“Hillary Rodham Clinton’s ties to agribusiness giant Monsanto, and her advocacy for the industry’s genetically modified crops, have environmentalists in Iowa calling her ‘Bride of Frankenfood’” reported the Washington Times in May 2015. “A large faction of women voiced strong support for Mrs. Clinton’s candidacy until the GMO issue came up, prompting them to switch allegiances to Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont, a liberal stalwart challenging her for the Democratic nomination.”
A year earlier, at the 2014 Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) Conference, Clinton hit all of Monsanto’s favorite talking points during a paid speech, noting that she has been in favor of using the company’s seeds and other biotech products that have a “proven track record,” even though there are no records or statistics to back up such high praise. Rather, there is much evidence proving that glyphosate has created an agricultural nightmare – superweeds that cannot be killed by Roundup or any other herbicide because they have developed a resistance caused by massive overuse .
