House Democrats blasted e-cigarette industry leader JUUL Labs on Thursday for its “deceptive” marketing practices they said were reminiscent of regular cigarette makers’ advertising in years past.

California Democrats under fire after vaping company Juul sponsors convention

The California Democratic Party is taking heat from some of its own members after allowing e-cigarette maker Juul Labs to sponsor the party’s convention two weeks ago.

In Washington, House Democrats demanded documents last week from Juul Labs as part of a probe into the teen vaping epidemic.

During the three-day convention, Juul’s logo flashed on a screen as conventiongoers watched a slew of speakers, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and some 2020 White House hopefuls.

Harris $12,300

Buttigieg $9,400

Biden $2,800

Warren $925

Yang $583.43

Sanders, $100

E-cigarette giant Juul Labs gave nearly $100,000 to members of Congress during the first half of 2019 as the company faced the bulk of the blame for a surge of underage vaping and calls for tighter government regulation of the industry.

The new FEC figures show that Democrats, who won control of the House during last year’s elections, received $74,000 from Juul’s PAC between January 1 and June 30 while Republicans received $22,500.

Juul also gave $2,500 to a left-leaning group called VoteVets.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
