Has France been sending regular soldiers as well as mercenaries into Ukraine?

ER Editor: Have French mercenaries AND regular troops been fighting in Ukraine all along? Russia appears to think so. And so do military experts like former CIA operative Larry Johnson. Which puts France technically on a warlike footing with Russia. And if so, do French parliamentarians know this? Some tweets with various reporting below. Seasoned analyst Thierry Meyssan gives the ramifications.

Our question is, why this why now?

More than 60 ‘mercenaries’, mostly French, killed in Ukraine: Russia

The Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday that it killed more than 60 mercenaries, mostly French, in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.

It said on Jan. 16, Russian armed forces launched an attack with high-precision weapons on a temporary deployment point in Kharkiv where foreign fighters, mostly French mercenaries, were stationed.

It said the building where the mercenaries were deployed was destroyed in the attack.

“More than 60 fighters were killed, and more than 20 were taken to medical facilities,” the ministry added.

France has denied it has mercenaries in Ukraine. See this from Al Jazeera —

France denies Russian claim of mercenaries in Ukraine

France has denied Russia’s claim that there were French mercenaries in Ukraine after Russia’s Ministry of Defence said its troops had killed “foreign fighters” earlier this week.

“France helps Ukraine with supplies of military material and military training, in full compliance with international law, in order to help Ukraine in its fight to defend its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity,” France’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.

“France has no mercenaries, neither in Ukraine nor elsewhere, unlike certain others,” it added.

On Thursday, Russia also summoned French ambassador to Moscow, Pierre Levy, to its foreign ministry regarding the alleged French mercenaries, Russian state news agency TASS reported.

“In connection with the destruction by the Russian armed forces of a temporary deployment point of foreign fighters in Kharkiv, among whom were several dozen Frenchmen, the French ambassador has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova was cited as saying.

Moscow said on Wednesday that its forces had carried out a strike a day earlier on a building in Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv.

“On the evening of 16 January, the armed forces of the Russian Federation carried out a precision strike on a temporary deployment point of foreign militants in the city of Kharkiv, the core of which were French mercenaries,” Russia’s Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

It said the building was destroyed and more than 60 people were killed, though it did not provide evidence for the claim. …

Russian Duma to address French Parliament

The Russian Duma will address the French Parliament regarding the presence of French “mercenaries” in Ukraine.

Officially, France is not engaged in military operations in Ukraine, but supports the latter by providing it with weapons. If French soldiers were involved in the fighting, the French Republic would be at war with the Russian Federation.

It would seem that the Duma is intent on disclosing the presence of French Special Forces, which are in Ukraine without authorization from the French Parliament.

Article 35 of the French Constitution stipulates stipulates as follows:

“The Government informs Parliament of its decision to have the armed forces intervene abroad, at the latest three days after the beginning of said intervention. It specifies the objectives pursued. This information may give rise to a debate which is not followed by any vote.
When the duration of the intervention exceeds four months, the Government submits its extension to Parliament for authorization. It may request the National Assembly to make the final decision.”

French ambassador to Moscow called in to explain “mercenaries” in Ukraine

French Ambassador to Moscow Pierre Lévy (photo) was summoned by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The Russian Federation expects to hear his explanation regarding the presence of French “mercenaries” in Ukraine. Several dozen of them were killed in Kharhiv/Kharhov just a few days ago.

This summer, MP Frédéric Mathieu (LFI party) questioned Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin about the presence of 400 French mercenaries in Ukraine, including some one hundred far-right activists. The parliamentarian had alerted him to the danger these men would pose when they returned to France.

The Russian Federation did not summon the ambassadors of the states from which other mercenaries hailed from. Moreover, Moscow suspects Paris of having sent regular soldiers embedded with its mercenaries to support the regime in Kiev.
