Interracial Couple take on Racism and Win!

Hosted by Linda Wattley

Sometimes we forget how horrific life has been to live in a world of hatred and self-entitlement. But Dewey B. Reynolds do not forget as he recaptures the life his interracial parents had to face surviving in a life of pure crime.

He is an extraordinary man who is known as a very unique author who demonstrates you do not have to be locked in a mode. Dewey Reynolds do not allow anyone or anything to dictate what he will and will not do with his gifts and talents. Known to have self-studied screenwriting and short filming, he took that knowledge to enhance his writing skills. Reynolds have many books written and I promise you, you cannot guess his genre because he uses them all.

Confident and a very powerful presence, Dewy Reynolds permeates a winning spirit that no matter where you have been, the best has yet to come. Today he presents his most current work of art as he recaptured the life of his parents who were known criminals determined to survive in a world determined to oppress innocent people.

He spent several years researching the criminal background of his interracial parents, Gordon Reynolds and Alla Mae Briggs. Their reign of vice occurred mostly throughout the 1960s. As a result of his parents being criminals running from the law, at six months of age, Dewey became award of the state of Missouri. Vital information from police reports and criminal rap sheets would prompt him to write their nonfiction story entitled: TWO SHADES OF VICE: BASED ON THE TRUE STORY OF AN INTERRACIAL COUPLE’S LIFE TOGETHER IN CRIME. I read his book and have this to say:

“Two Shades of Vice”, proved to be a very unique read for me. It was so many things, mystery, drama, history, and quite psychological. I was more interested in the author. I wanted to know who he was and what propelled him to write this story. I know he learned his parents were an interracial couple who dealt with the horrific realities of racism and the difficulties that came with it. But I was not convinced this was the driving force. His ability to create imaginary possibilities of their relationship was astounding. He has a very extraordinary mind. I commend him for being able to create art out of abandonment of what could have been. For sure he is a master of literary art. All I can say is it was a memorable read to observe gifts and talents at work. To know your parents were criminals, yet you aspired to such a high level of creativity is amazing! I salute you Dewy B. Reynolds.
