What’s our “thing”?

When did we stop living in an effort to survive?

by Steve Cook

Take a person who is obsessed about their aches and pains or who has some illness or other that is their “thing”.

The “thing” dominates and shapes their life, restricts their activity and movement, consumes and introverts their attention and occupies almost their every waking thought.

And boy do they really hang into it and make a game of wrestling with it.

Relatively mild societies with relatively mild environmental challenges are prone to having people with “things”.

In their conversation with you, the first thing you hear about is their ailment

When a person gets thus fixated on a “thing”, his or her life can get pretty dismal and they can become hobbled or hamstrung in their efforts to play the game of life.

They forget to live to the degree they become obsessed with surviving their “thing”.

But at least while they are introverted on their thing, they are not paying much attention to what else is going on, so governments love them.

And so do pharmaceutical companies for obvious reasons.

But society too can have a “thing” in much the same way.

Ours, presently, is called COVID.

We should probably reject all efforts to fixate us on it, flourish, prosper and create among ourselves and for ourselves a better game, a better set of problems to solve, more befitting a race of highly able beings.

Such as designing building right now a government that truly works for all the people.

There’s a first time for everything.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
