FAA Scientist: We Want Clouds By Day, None By Night
JIM LEE INTERVIEWS DR. RANGASAYI HALTHORE FROM THE FAA’S AVIATION CLIMATE CHANGE RESEARCH INITIATIVE (ACCRI), HEAD OF THE ALTERNATIVE FUEL EFFECTS ON CONTRAILS AND CRUISE EMISSIONS (ACCESS I & II) EXPERIMENTS.
by Jim Lee, TLB contributor
Chemtrails may be the butt of jokes in your realm but the conversation is in serious need of a fresh start with some freaky facts. I have studied the topic of contrails, chemtrails, and aviation induced cloudiness for the last six years. I have come to this conclusion:
BOTH SIDES ARE WRONG.
Staunch chemtrail conspiracy fans are firm in the belief that:
- Clouds are intentionally being created.
[Response: there is no way to prove or disprove this statement, therefore I avoid this trap.]
- Secret pumps and pipes are installed in planes to achieve this.
[Response: In six years of research I have not seen one photo of a pump or pipe that I could not find the original and thereby see through the deception. Please feel free to prove me wrong, send photos to: email@example.com ]
- These clouds are filled with chemicals that: kill people, cause morgellons, mind control, transhumanism, and every other imaginable, intentional harm.
[Response: This is FEAR PORN. This is preached by those who use your fear for profit. They turn a serious pollution/geoengineering issue into CONTRAIL CRACK and you get addicted to that fear. They make up their own terminology, induct you into their church, and rake in the money from ads and donations. Go shopping, stay scared.]
- Most agree that these clouds are for either weather modification or geoengineering, and are controlled by secret government committees, military commanders, or corporate entities.
[Response: Contrail cirrus clouds are both weather modification and geoengineering solar radiation management (SRM). A plethora of government agencies, scientific organizations, and industry bodies are involved in discussing how to deal with and/or take advantage of contrail cirrus clouds. PROOF IN THE INTERVIEW BELOW.]
Chemtrail Debunkers believe:
- Contrails are just condensation, just harmless water vapor.
[Response: Condensating on what? Answer: cloud seeds or aerosols like soot and metal nanoparticles. This matters A LOT.]
- This is completely normal, nothing here to see, move along.
[Response: What is normal about jet aircraft blocking out the sun, altering weather, and ruining an otherwise beautiful day?]
- Contrail cirrus (nerd for chemtrails) is not used to harm people.
[Response: I mostly agree with this statement.]
- Contrails are not geoengineering.
[Response: Incorrect. At best, contrail cirrus is “inadvertent weather modification” and “accidental geoengineering.” At worst: aviation cloud creation services are administered, coordinated, and numerous historical documents tend to lean toward the latter.]
HERE ARE THE FACTS!
- Jet aircraft have been creating clouds that fan out and block out the sun since 1948!
- The airline industry was sued in 1970 by the state of Illinois and New Jersey for chemtrails, but they called it “smoke pollution of the sky.”
- The airline industry settled out of court, swore to clean up pollution and the clouds should go away. They did not.
- 10 years later, Chicago skies were still covered by clouds made by planes.
- September 11, 2001 all planes were grounded and scientists observed contrails fanning out to cover the sky. Their results were shocking to the scientific community showing contrail cirrus clouds were affecting the daily temperature range. Later in 2008 a volcanic eruption lead the observation of a single E3 AWACS plane covering all of the UK with clouds, leading to the conclusion that contrail cirrus may be affecting the climate 5000 times more than aviation CO2!
- These two papers have highlighted a major problem for the airline industry: they may face the largest carbon tax in history when the carbon tax cabal comes calling for their cloud bill. Clouds are the main terrestrial driver of climate change, and now that that cat is out of the bag the FAA, ICAO, and airline industry are shuffling their feet to either avoid creating contrail cirrus clouds or TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM.
- Chuck Long from NASA’s CIRES said that airlines are creating ice haze that is brightening the sky and called this “Accidental Geoengineering.” Scientists are now talking about how to alter jet fuel to cool the planet, avoid carbon taxes, and possibly even reap some carbon credit dollars for their “climate mitigation” cloud creation services.
So here are the facts laid out as clearly as possible, backed by evidence, and finalized with an interview with the head of the FAA’s chemtrail clean-up crew: ACCRI.
Chemtrails are clouds, cirrus clouds. They are also called:
- Persistent Contrails
- Spreading Contrails
- Contrail Cirrus
- Contrail Induced Cloudiness (CIC)
- Aviation Induced Cloudiness (AIC)
- Aviation Induced Cirrus
- Induced Cirrus Cloudiness
- Man-made clouds
- THEY ARE: Artificial Clouds
Planes have made cirrus clouds that blanket the sky since 1948 based on my research (Thanks to Domenic Marrama for the 1941 and 1951 articles!):
In 1970 the airline got sued by the state of Illinois and New Jersey for black belch (soot billowing from airports) and “smoke pollution of the skies.” Secretary of Transportation James Volpe mediated a discussion between the airline industry and the plaintiffs, wherein the airlines agreed to install “burner cans” in their jets. They claimed these redesigned combustors would reduce exhaust particles by 70% and this should results in cloud free days.
Ten years later, Chicago skies were still blanketed with clouds. Apparently the lawsuit and subsequent burner cans had little effect on cloud creation.
December 1980 NBC News aired a report titled “Clouded Judgment: Do Jet Contrails Increase Cloud Cover?”
This video shows the mindset in pre-1980: contrail cirrus is a good thing!
“Unlike most changes in the atmosphere caused by man, this one is beneficial.” said Richard Semonin from the Illinois Institute of Natural Resources. “No one is trying to make clouds now using jet engines, but this study suggests that jet travel is inadvertently making our days more cloudy and some day, weather researchers may be able to use jets on purpose to change our weather.“
That was all fine until David Travis and company observed two F-16’s escorting Air Force 1 in an otherwise clear sky. This paper titled “Regional Variations in U.S. Diurnal Temperature Range for the 11–14 September 2001 Aircraft Groundings: Evidence of Jet Contrail Influence on Climate” made the case that contrail cirrus was actually trapping heat, making our nights warmer than they should be.
CBS News aired the bad news in a piece titled “Sky Graffiti Warming Up Earth?” in 2006. Contrails are lines of exhaust left by planes. It can be fun to watch them as they crisscross the sky. But as Anthony Mason reports, some people think they could spell trouble for the planet.
New research suggests that jet exhaust is four times better at trapping heat than ground emissions with contrails playing a critical role. Contrails form at high altitudes when hot jet engines pass through cold moist air. The clouds spread out trapping heat rising from the surface.
Then a second chance to see how bad this contrail cirrus problem is: the 2008 eruption of Eyjaffjalljokull grounded all flights over the UK.
A U.S. Air Force E3 AWACS radar plane was flying over the U.K. during this flight grounding and it created cirrus clouds that covered the entire island! Of course you know scientists freaked out:
“A single aircraft operating in conditions favorable for persistent contrail formation appears to exert a contrail-induced radiative forcing some 5000 times greaterthan recent estimates of the average persistent contrail radiative forcing from the entire civil aviation fleet. This study emphasizes the need to establish whether similar events are common or highly unusual for a confident assessment of the total climate effect of aviation to be made.”
The pictures show satellite thermal images of the evolving contrail. This was from a case study published by Jim Haywood and colleagues in JGR doi:10.1029/2009JD012650.
A seemingly unrelated study by NOAA’s Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) found that stratospheric sulfur dioxide doubled from 2000-2010:
“Stratospheric aerosol increased surprisingly rapidly in that time, almost doubling during the decade,” Daniel said. “The increase in aerosols since 2000 implies a cooling effect” – NOAA study: Increase in particles high in Earth’s atmosphere has offset some recent climate warming
Also in 2011, the BBC tries to spin the results of these studies and summarily states:
after all the data was analyzed there was an increase in temperature… that suggests that contrails cool the planet.
This statement is the exact opposite of what the research suggested. #FakeNews
Finally in 2015 Chuck Long from NOAA’s ESRL CIRES dropped the bombshell: jet aircraft are creating ice haze that is brightening the sky, and this IS geoengineering….. accidentally.
Long suggests that a high-altitude “ice haze,” created by water and other emissions from aircraft, is responsible. “I’m talking about a sub-visual contrail-generated haze of ice, which we do not classify as a cloud but gives blue sky more of a whitish tint.” Long said.
Contrail cirrus clouds are always referred to as inadvertent or accidental, never intentional. All of that has changed.
Scientists have come to the conclusion that contrail cirrus clouds cool during the day but they trap too much heat at night.
- Cloud blanket warms up melting icecap
- Greenland ice sheet melts more when it’s cloudy
- Clouds enhance Greenland ice sheet meltwater runoff
- Clouds, like blankets, trap heat and are melting the Greenland Ice Sheet
There is a major scramble for a contrail pollution solution due to the 9-11 and 2008 research papers and the looming carbon taxes faced by the airline industry. The leading candidate for contrail control is geoengineering the jet fuel.
The idea is simple: change the type of cloud seeds (aerosols or cloud condensation nuclei CCN) coming out of the jet engines so they make clouds that do not trap heat. Generally speaking their plan is to reduce soot and add sulfur, this should make cooling clouds.
If the airline industry can pull it off they can claim they are doing climate mitigation and get carbon credits (cash) for making clouds instead of paying a hefty carbon tax bill.
I now present my interview with Dr. Rangasayi Halthore, head of the FAA Aviation Climate Change Research Initiative (ACCRI). He is also the head of the ACCESS flight experiments on biofuels and contrail control. Be sure to see the references I emailed the good doctor prior to our interview at the bottom of this article.
I hope you will learn this material, get engaged in a real discussion about contrail cirrus pollution and the attempts to geoengineer these clouds.
And now our featured presentation:

“Use commuter aircraft fuels doped with aerosol generators”
“dissolved or suspended in their jet fuel and later burned with the fuel to create seeding aerosol, or (2) injected into the hot engine exhaust, which should vaporize the seeding material, allowing it to condense as aerosol in the jet contrail”
“Options for dispersing gases from planes include the addition of sulfur to the fuel, which would release the aerosol through the exhaust system of the plane, or the attachment of a nozzle to release the sulfur from its own tank within the plane, which would be the better option.”
“The particles may be seeded by dispersal from seeding aircraft; one exemplary technique may be via the jet fuel as suggested by prior work regarding the metallic particles. Once the tiny particles have been dispersed into the atmosphere, the particles may remain in suspension for up to one year.”
A potential delivery mechanism for the seeding material is already in place: the airline industry. Since seeding aerosol residence times in the troposphere are relatively short, the climate might return to its normal state within months after stopping the geoengineering experiment. The main known drawback to this approach is that it would not stop ocean acidification. It does not have many of the drawbacks that stratospheric injection of sulfur species has.
“Direct detection of total sulfuric acid (SA) has been achieved for the first time in the plume of a jet aircraft in flight. The measurements show the same SA signatures for the case when SA was injected directly into the exhaust jet and the case when sulfur was provided to the engine with the fuel.”
“Applying high FSCs [fuel sulfur content] at aviation cruise altitudes combined with ULSJ [ultra-low sulfur jet fuel, aviation biofuel] fuel at lower altitudes result in reduced aviation-induced mortality and increased negative RE compared to the baseline aviation scenario.”
