Memories Of My Father … What Used To Be – 5th Annual Fathers Day Republication

 By: Roger Landry (TLB)

I dreamed about My father (God rest his soul) last night. In this dream memories of my father were as vivid as if he was physically in my presence. He was a very patriotic man, having served the country he loved so much in both the Navy and the Army.

His patriotism and devotion to this country was unwavering and was proven by his being wounded, almost fatally, in combat while serving in the Korean conflict (something I never once heard him complain about).

I remembered him sitting me on his lap when I was a young boy and I listened in awe as he described his deep unwavering love for this country.

He said to me in a soft but strong voice:

This is the only country …

Where a man can say what is on his mind without fear of being throw in prison.

Where our government is made up of dedicated people we choose.

Where a man’s land is his in perpetuity to use as he sees fit for the betterment of his family.

Where a man can work hard his entire life, and look forward to a bountiful retirement he has prepared diligently for.

Where the people control the government, not the government controlling the people.

Where work is plentiful and opportunities for the ambitious and resourceful are limitless.

Where our industrial might and intellectual prowess make us the true leaders of this world.

Where the world looks upon us and the guardians of freedom and liberty.

I distinctly remember the great feelings washing over me as I sat there warm and coddled in his lap. As I listened to him I imagined what I could do with my life in this glorious country he was so very proud to call his home!

Then I woke up this morning and …

Sorry dad, I miss you so very much but … I am truly glad you are not here to see this.

Rest in peace Edward Landry … Your loving son, Roger

Authors Note: I originally wrote the above short piece in mid 2014, but have made it a point to republish it each year on Fathers Day … this is the 5th annual republication.

If you ask why … Then please ask yourself if this country has gotten better, or in fact much worse over the last few years since it was originally published?

Are our unalienable rights any more protected … or are they under an even more intense attack from liberal and progressive SJWs hellbent on socialism or even communism, and quickly going the way of the dodo bird or the woolly mammoth?

Is America standing proud as the leader of the free world, or under attack by a global elitist oligarchy hellbent on the elimination of our sovereignty and the institution of a global communist world order whereby anything that once made us special is eliminated or destroyed?

Are our elected representatives, representing … or going to Washington only to glean what they can in self-centered greed, or made to do the bidding of their puppet masters to which their allegiance is undeniable?

Is America safe and secure via the leadership we have chosen to carry us forward into the future, or mired down in a quagmire created by a deep state who believes they know better than we, what America needs … and will stop at nothing to destroy a sitting president duly elected by We The People?

Shall I continue … because I surely can!

This short (true) story is even more germane today than when it was originally published.

Understand I am in my mid sixties, and that this story takes place in the late 1950s. America was a different country then, not perfect but the perception of We The People was far different. We were a very proud country, a rich country, and the land of opportunity that was looked up to by a vast majority of humanity.

But all has changed … and for the many who don’t have, or just aren’t old enough to have, a long-term perspective as us baby boomers do, please take my word on this …

NONE OF IT HAS BEEN TO OUR ADVANTAGE

I will continue to republish this as long as it is pertinent … the question is … how much longer will I have to … and how will this all end …

My Parting Shot …

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
