Republicans Just Handed Obama A Legacy Crushing Defeat
Obamacare was the crown jewel of Barack Obama’s signature achievement.
All the Washington experts predicted the GOP would fail in their efforts to repeal this government health care scheme.
But Donald Trump and the Republican Party took the first step toward erasing Obama’s biggest failure.
The House of Representatives narrowly passed the American Health Care Act by a 217-212 margin.
Pundits scoffed at the GOP’s attempts to revive repealing Obamacare after Paul Ryan’s push to ram Obamacare 2.0 through the house collapsed in spectacular defeat.
So-called “mainstream” media pundits pointed to the debacle as the reason Trump’s first 100 days in office were a failure.
But conservatives in the House Freedom Caucus did not give up and negotiated a bill that had consensus support in the conference.
Mark Meadows – chairman of the Freedom Caucus – took the lead on negotiations and helped the GOP produce a revised bill that took the first step toward repealing Obamacare.
✅Repeal individual mandate
✅Repeal employer mandate
✅Cut taxes nearly $1T
✅End taxpayer-funded abortions
✅Double HSA contribution limits— Phil Kerpen (@kerpen) May 4, 2017
The bill is not perfect.
And it does not fully repeal Obamacare.
But it is the first step and it could not have been accomplished without Donald Trump working with conservatives.
In recent weeks, Meadows is the one who told Trump that charm/sales thing doesn’t play here. Need to play ball on policy w/ conservatives

Dave Brat – one of the most conservative members of the House Freedom Caucus – explained on his Facebook page was he voted for an imperfect bill.
Trump promised Heath and Human Services Secretary Tom Price will use executive action to further chip away at Obamacare.
Big win in the House – very exciting! But when everything comes together with the inclusion of Phase 2, we will have truly great healthcare!

The bill was not perfect.
And it was not a full repeal of Obamacare.
But it did accomplish some repeal of Obamacare.
The action now moves to the Senate where they will likely write their own bill and then the two chambers will hash out the differences in a conference committee.
